Our Overall Position: We are just reporting public information and making it more accessible to the public.  As long as you are happy with your dealings with any of the businesses we report on, there is no reason to stop doing business with them.  If any business is ever embarrassed by their reports, we suggest you do better.

Free Advertising Tools For Gloucester, Virginia Businesses No 5

Here we are giving you the source files for our newest free advertising tools for Gloucester, Virginia businesses.  These source files are all licensed under a Creative Commons license so that there are no issues with anyone using these files.  We call this particular ad the "Bacon's Rebelllion Ad".  We have opened up a larger area of space for you to include your business information.  This is the largest space we have been able to open up to date.

   Creative Commons License
Bacon's Rebellion Ad by Chuck Thompson of TTC Media is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 United States License.
Based on a work at http://www.GloucesterCounty-VA.com.
Permissions beyond the scope of this license may be available at http://www.GloucesterCounty-VA.com.
This is the actual Creative Commons license.  It's for the United States only.  This license covers the following source files.  One Microsoft Office Word doc., that contains the entire ad and one Open Office Writer odt file that contains the same file.

These are the following conditions for using the source files and participating in the ad campaign.  The ad campaign is free for any and all Gloucester, Virginia businesses.  You may change the font color and style.  You may change the background color of the document.  You may import and add in one or more images into the open space provided, in order to advertise your business.  You may add in text into the open space provided in the source file to explain your business to potential customers/clients.

You may not remove any of the presently existing text anywhere in the advertising piece.  You may not remove the attribution or web site extension from the advertising piece.

 Links:
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B5NJpRCvjyV8Y1E5ZGlwWnByUXM/edit?usp=sharing  Microsoft Office Word doc. file.

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B5NJpRCvjyV8NkNDdXdsV2pBZnc/edit?usp=sharing  Open Office odt. source file.

Again, these source files are governed by the above Creative Commons license along with our additional terms and conditions.

This is an example of what a finished ad looks like.  Once you have completed your piece, you are free to print and distribute the ad piece in any way you see fit.  Printing costs usually run at about 15 to 20 cents per page.  One idea would be to change the text font color as well as the background color into something more visual and take the ad to the Gloucester Mathews Gazette Journal and have them print out a few posters of your new ad piece and hang the new ads in a visible space for your customers to see.

Printing of a poster, last we knew was only at about $1.00 each.

Now about the free e-book.  Bacon's Rebellion 1676.  This is what the book looks like.

If you do not have your own web site, you are welcome to direct your customers to our site and tell them to visit the e-books link at the top of the site to get their free download.  You also have the option to download the book yourself and host the book on your own site.

This is the license for the e-book.  We do not allow modifications to this e-book as it contains some of our own original works.  We are allowing you to use the e-book as a free promotional giveaway to help drive business to your web site and hopefully right back to you with repeat customers who appreciate these efforts.

Again, all of this is supplied to you at no cost and your only cost in using these tools is your time that you put into finishing a piece and any printing costs.  We want to see local businesses succeed in this tough market.

Some reasons for using this ad.

1.) You are promoting history.
2.) You are promoting education.
3.) You are promoting the local community.
4.) You are promoting tourism and showing tourists you are tourist friendly.
5.) You are promoting your own business.
6.) You are driving people to your web site for potential repeat business.
7.) You are giving something of value away to your potential customers that helps you stand out in their minds.

Each ad is designed to grab the attention of the reader right from the beginning.  After giving them something to digest, we invite the reader to learn more in several areas that include learning more about your business when they visit your web site looking for the free download.  We have put a tremendous amount of time and thought into each of these ad campaigns.  We hope that you enjoy them.  More are coming.

Gloucester, VA Where American History Really Begins, Ad A Hit Already.

This is the recent stats on the new advertising piece we have uploaded for all local businesses to take advantage of.  We are not even test marketing the piece in any way and have already taken 149 hits within 2 days of hosting the file.  Imagine what we can do if we actually market this out there?  In other words, don't get left behind on this one.  It's already showing it's hot without even trying.  These stats show that we can make a very positive impact for Gloucester businesses and the community as a whole.

All of the source files are a few short posts underneath this one along with a sample of what the ad looks like and of course there is no cost to get involved with any of our ads.  Our other ad that promotes the Rosewell Ruins has already taken 73 hits and again we have done nothing to promote it.  Any local business becomes the ad sponsor for free and gets to give away a valuable e-book to boot and again all at no cost to the ad sponsor.  You have to love it when you see a plan starting to come together.

Free Tools For Local Businesses No 4 - Roswell Ruins Ad

Here is where we are hosting the source files that are available for any and all local businesses.  The source files are all licensed under a Creative Commons distribution and are as follows.

Creative Commons License
Rosewell Ruins History Ad by Chuck Thompson of TTC Media is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 United States License.
Based on a work at http://www.GloucesterCounty-VA.com.
Permissions beyond the scope of this license may be available at http://www.GloucesterCounty-VA.com.

The conditions are as follows for the source files.  None of the present files can be removed or altered with the following exceptions only.  You may change the fonts as we can not control them inside the documents.  We have over 4,000 fonts to play with where the average word processing program only has a few hundred max.  So the chances of anyone having the same fonts available to them as we used in our files are not very likely.

The next exception is that every business has the ability to put in their own image(s) in the Ad Sponsor box provided along with whatever text needed to promote your business.  These are the reasons we opened the license to include derivative works.  The source files are in Microsoft Word Doc. file format and also in Open Office odt. format.  This way just about anyone should be able to work with these source files.

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B5NJpRCvjyV8YjBfTnZ2Y3hKVG8/edit?usp=sharing  This is the Microsoft Word Doc. file version source file download link.

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B5NJpRCvjyV8OGNwOENqdUdGSkU/edit?usp=sharing  This is the Open Office, AOO, Star Office, Oxygen Office, and other open source format odt. source file download link.

The link for the free e-book is as follows.
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B5NJpRCvjyV8V2VUZVE4RkxzLWM/edit?usp=sharing  If you do not want people to see an ugly link on your site, you can bury it in something like this, CLICK HERE or Download Here type of hidden link.  All three links above will take you to the file.

Based on a work at http://www.GloucesterCounty-VA.com.
Permissions beyond the scope of this license may be available at http://www.GloucesterCounty-VA.com.

The e-book is under the above Creative Commons 3.0 attribution, non-derivatives commercial use distribution.

Benefits for using this campaign?

1.) Promote your business and web site in an inexpensive manner.  (If you do not have a web site, you can send your customers to our site for the free download of the e-book).
2.) You are promoting history and education.
3.) You are promoting a local historical tourist attraction.
4.) You are supporting a non profit foundation.
5.) You are telling your customers that you are tourist friendly.
6.) You are promoting the local community.
7.) You get to give something of value away that does not cost you anything.

The ad is designed to get the customers curiosity up and visit your web site to get more information.  There, you have another chance to continue to earn repeat business.  You can attach coupons to the ad which will help you track the ad's effectiveness.  Plus you can not beat the cost.  You can load this ad on your site as an additional page, a PDF download file, turn the page into a jpeg image and send the image out for promotions, use it to email potential customers and more.

Once you have completed your ad, printing on the average printer will cost somewhere between 15 to 20 cents per page.  100 pages will cost about $15.00 to $20.00.  For large distribution, take it to one of the local printers and see what they can do for you on rates.  Change the background color to Black or another solid color and make a poster out of the ad to hang in your business.  (Okay, we are allowing you to do that under the license as well).

We have more ads in the works so watch for some exciting stuff to come out soon.  Enjoy.

Gloucester, VA - Free Tools For Local Businesses No 3

Gloucester, VA Historic Circle Jail - By Chuck...
Gloucester, VA Historic Circle Jail - By Chuck Thompson of TTC Media (Photo credit: Battleofthehook)
In our continuing efforts to assist local businesses we are putting up the source files for our newest campaign, Gloucester, Virginia, American History Begins Here.  The source files are all licensed under a Creative Commons license and are as follows.

Creative Commons License
Gloucester, Virginia, Where American History Really Begins by Chuck Thompson of TTC Media is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 United States License.
Based on a work at http://www.GloucesterCounty-VA.com.
Permissions beyond the scope of this license may be available at http://www.GloucesterCounty-VA.com.

You can make derivative works under this license in the following manner.  You may not change the text in any area that is already set up.  What you may do is add in your own picture and or image along with text advertising your business in the space already provided on the document.  You may not take out any pictures already in the source file document.  You are allowed to change any of the fonts on the document as this is an area that can not be controlled in formatting the source file and not everyone has the same set of fonts available to work with.

You may not remove the attribution or attribution source link at the bottom of the page of the source file.

We are offering two source files for you to choose from.  One is a Microsoft Office doc. file so that you can edit and add your information using Microsoft Office and the other one is an Open Office odf. document that you can use Open Office writer to edit and add in your information.  Open Office will open either document and it will look the same.

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B5NJpRCvjyV8ZXJtSllYOV8yQzA/edit?usp=sharing  Microsoft Word Doc. file.  Preview does not show correctly but source file tested in Word shows fine.

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B5NJpRCvjyV8RjFKN3k3dUZSeGM/edit?usp=sharing  Open Office, AOO, Star Office and other open source office and word processing programs where odt.'s can be used.  No preview available when looking at download link.

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B5NJpRCvjyV8Ym1NVFRJU29mZFk/edit?usp=sharing  This is the source link for the free download to put on your site.  If you do not want an ugly link on your site, you can hide the link like this, CLICK HERE  to download the free Pocahontas - John Smith e-book.  We are hosting the download for you so you do not have to.  You can download a copy if you want and host it yourselves, that's up to you.  We are just trying to make everything as easy for you as possible.  The e-book is also being licensed to you.

Creative Commons License
The Pocahontas - John Smith Story, By Pocahontas Wight Edmunds by Chuck Thompson of TTC Media is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NoDerivs 3.0 United States License.
Based on a work at http://www.GloucesterCounty-VA.com.
Permissions beyond the scope of this license may be available at http://www.GloucesterCounty-VA.com.

The original source file came from the public domain, however, we made a number of edits and added a number of files and changes to the document that fall under our own copyrights.  You are welcome to search for a copy of the original book on your own and use that instead if you would like.  We do not allow any form of derivatives on the e-book under the above license.

This is an idea of what your finished ad will look like.

This is what the e-book looks like.

Once you are done, you can create a PDF of the document and post it on your web site to help you advertise your business and capture attention.  You can also post the PDF online and or send it out in emails or post in certain forums online.  You can also create a Jpeg image of the document to share it.  Printing with your own printer should be at a cost of roughly 15 to 20 cents per page.  100 pages costs around $15.00 to $20.00.  Take it to one of the local printers and see if they can maybe give you a better deal.  It just depends on how many you want to distribute.

What are the potential benefits here?

1.) You are advertising your business and also your own web site.  (Provided you have one.  If you do not have a site, you can direct your customers to us to get the free download.  We have tried to think of everything in advance).
2.) You are encouraging repeat business.
3.) You are promoting history and education.
4.) You are promoting the area and community.
5.) You are promoting and being friendly to tourism.
6.) You are giving your customer something of value that does not cost you anything other than cheap printing costs and a bit of your time.

Another great idea to help you is to attach a coupon to the ad to encourage further repeat business.  This also allows you to trace how effective your campaign is or isn't.  The rest is up to you.  Send us an electronic copy of your newly created ad and we will promote it here on this site for you as well.

Gloucester, VA - Where American History Really Begins

Did the history books get it wrong?  In the above file, we are arguing that if Pocahontas had not saved Captain John Smith from his death sentence, then it is a reasonable assumption to believe that Jamestown would have faced a similar fate to that of the Roanoke Island settlement.  Just another colony that vanished with little or no information as to what really happened and that this is what our present history books might read like today.

With that argument presented, we further argue that American history really begins in Gloucester, Virginia then.  Can we really win that argument?  No, not really and would not expect to.  The piece is designed as an advertising piece for local businesses to take advantage of and help bring history and education to everyone.  With it, local businesses can advertise themselves by becoming ad sponsors and inserting their information into a space provided specifically for them on the ad.  There is no cost to local businesses to become ad sponsors other than downloading the ad file, inserting their information into the space provided and then printing costs.  One last step the businesses need to take is to post a link on their web sites for a free e-book download that is being hosted by us.

So when someone visits the ad sponsors store, they can pick up one of these ads and if the purpose of the ad works, the shopper will later visit the ad sponsors web site to download the free e-book and seeing more reasons to come back and shop at the ad sponsors business again and maybe even recommend the shop or business to others.  Plus it puts a positive spin on the county and reasons for exploring the area.  So it's great for tourism.  The business gets to give away something of value and it does not cost the business anything to give this e-book away.

We are developing an entire series of these that any business is free to take advantage of.  Each new ad will have a different free offer when the ad calls for one.  If a local business does not care for one ad but likes another one, then they are free to choose what they think will best help them.  There is no competition on these ads.  It does not matter if 30 other businesses are using this ad piece, it still does the same job for each one.  Businesses can also mix and match the ads as they become available, giving out different ones in a mix.

Look for Free Tools For Local Businesses No 3 for the source files that is coming next and will be available on May 6th, 2013.

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B5NJpRCvjyV8Ym1NVFRJU29mZFk/edit?usp=sharing  Here is the link for the free e-book, "The Pocahontas - John Smith Story."  We will be putting this up on anther page here as well very soon.
