The Devil And Daniel Webster

The Devil and Daniel Webster from Chuck Thompson

Now here is a short story for your consideration.  This little story gives you two very important pieces of information.  One, what it used to be like to be an American.  We no longer recognize these qualities as we have been brainwashed to think in terms of good little socialists chattel.  Very sad.  Two, what a real common law jury court looks like.

How this relates to real solutions for today's world?  We better understand where we came from and what our real rights are as we have voluntarily given way too many of them away.  If we do not start going back to our roots, we will forever be lost and slaves to hidden masters as is the present situation.

The above video is a quick view of the story above.  It is not complete but does give you the overall basics of the concept of what our real freedoms mean.  We would love to find the full video, but imagine that it is still under copyright and also, do not imagine that those in power want you to see this.  Least you understand.

AMC Studios’ Colonial Era Spy Series Filmed in Virginia Premieres April 6

Battle of the Hook, 2013

Estimated Economic Impact for Virginia is $45 Million for Season One

RICHMOND, Va.  When the new TV series “TURN” premieres on Sunday, April 6 at 9 pm ET, Virginians will get their first opportunity to view the Revolutionary War-era saga about America’s first spy ring. They will also see the results of Virginia’s efforts to create jobs and grow our economy by bringing film and television projects to the Commonwealth.  The ten episodes that comprise the first season were shot entirely on location in the Richmond and Petersburg areas and feature many area locations, actors and extras.

“’TURN’ is the perfect show to be filmed in Virginia,” said Governor Terry McAuliffe. “This high-quality show from an outstanding network like AMC will shine a spotlight on Virginia’s exceptional historic sites and attractions.  It will also offer the prospect of long-term employment for many Virginians and help develop our workforce by providing hands-on experience for those entering the field of film and television production.”

Secretary of Commerce and Trade Maurice Jones continued, “Bringing projects like ‘TURN’ to Virginia is an economic development strategy that will absolutely continue in the McAuliffe administration. The film industry in Virginia plays a significant role in the state’s economy. In 2012, the total economic impact of the film and television industry in Virginia was $328.4 million and 3,061 jobs were attributed to the film industry. The Governor and I are dedicated to expanding the successes the Commonwealth has had in this key area.”

Virginia Film Office Director Andy Edmunds remarked, “Landing a major television series is an important milestone for our industry. Long-term job opportunities for cast, crew, and other related businesses will be a major catalyst toward growing a sustainable and thriving production industry in Virginia. AMC produces some of the best content in the business, and we are proud to be partnering with them on this exceptional series.”

“TURN” is a layered, character-driven spy thriller that unravels the untold story of America’s first spy ring. Set during the Revolutionary War, viewers are taken behind the battlefront to a shadow war fought by everyday heroes: men and women who defy king and family to create a new nation while vowing to keep their work a secret.

Based on remarkable new research in the book Washington’s Spies, by Alexander Rose, “TURN” centers around Abraham Woodhull, a farmer living behind enemy lines in British-occupied Long Island. Abraham bands together with a group of childhood friends to form The Culper Ring: an unlikely team of secret agents who help George Washington turn the tide of the war in favor of the Rebels. Their daring efforts revolutionized the art of espionage, giving birth to modern spycraft in all its moral complexity. “TURN” transforms history into suspenseful and resonant entertainment.

The series stars Jamie Bell as Abraham Woodhull, Seth Numrich as Ben Tallmadge, Heather Lind as Anna Strong, Daniel Henshall as Caleb Brewster, Meegan Warner as Mary Woodhull, Kevin McNally as Judge Richard Woodhull, Burn Gorman as Major Hewlett, Angus MacFadyen as Robert Rogers, JJ Feild as Major John Andre, and Samuel Roukin as Captain Simcoe.   The series has filmed at numerous locations throughout the area including Shirley, Westover, Tuckahoe, Kittiewan and Scotchtown Plantations. The series has also filmed extensively in Petersburg, including at Center Hill Mansion, the Farmer’s Market, South Side Depot and Cockade Alley.

“TURN” will be eligible for Virginia incentives based on actual expenditures in the Commonwealth, and other added-value deliverables including Virginia Tourism Corporation advertising. The economic impact of “TURN” shooting in Virginia is estimated to be $45 million per season with 600 people involved in filming.

American Revolution - Liberty's Kids - Going Home

Liberty's Kids, episode number 39, Going Home.  Even though the war was pretty much over, other troubles were just beginning.  The independence we just own had it's own new issues that were being realized.  The foundations for this new nation had to be built in order to make sure this new nation could survive.

As we end this section working with Liberty's Kids, which has been such a pleasure, we have been stating that we have every intention of continuing our Liberty Education Series and we already have a number of other videos we will be working with along with continuing to bring books and articles about our nations history.  Plus we are moving ever closer to an extraordinary event coming to Gloucester, Virginia in October known as the Battle of the Hook.

The Battle of the Hook is an American Revolutionary battle that took place before the battle in Yorktown happened, effectively cutting off Lord Cornwallis's planned retreat route through Gloucester, Virginia.  Cornwallis really was surrounded.  If you look at the Articles of Capitulation of Lord Cornwallis that we published here a few days ago, you will see that not only did Lord Cornwallis surrender at Yorktown, but at Gloucester, Virginia as well.

This is rarely covered in the history books as it is not as exciting as the rest of the story of the final defeat.  Even the Liberty's Kids videos missed this.  October 19th and 20th, 2013, one of the nations largest Revolutionary War re enactments will take place on the grounds of George Washington's grandfather's estate, Warner Hall, in Gloucester and will include sea battles.

That is truly exciting.  One of the area's seldom covered about the American Revolution are the prisoner's of this battle.  So today we are bringing you a special e-book that covers just that.

This is a custom edition we put together.  Nathan Hale is on the cover of this edition being questioned by the enemy in Montreal.  This e-book is also great for those researching family genealogy.  We are also including one of our Fife and Drum videos here as part of the American celebration of History.

The Crossing - Sunday Movie

Sometimes you get lucky in your search for great content to share with everyone.  Today we found this film called, "The Crossing", which is an American Revolutionary War film.  So it's more we get to share with everyone as we go through American History here on this site.  We have not yet seen this film but we are looking forward to it.  It's about 90 minutes long.

The drama is about George Washington crossing the Delaware River and the Battle of Trenton during the American Revolutionary War. The film opens with the retreat of the Continental Army across New Jersey after repeated losses and defeats during the campaign of 1776.

After the army narrowly escapes across the river to the Pennsylvania shore, Washington, realizing that something must be done or the Revolution will collapse, conceives a plan to cross the river and conduct a surprise attack on the Hessian garrison at Trenton.

Despite their own fatigue and the winter weather, Washington manages to lift his weary soldiers' spirits, allowing the army to cross the river on Christmas night. The crossing is done in one night, allowing the troops to attack Trenton at eight o' clock on December 26, 1776, and gains a stunning victory, capturing almost all the Hessians to their own advantage.

Although rather brief, it included the largest cavalry engagement of the war, with more than 500 horsemen involved.

No British Surrender In Yorktowwn During First American Revolution

American Revolution" target="_blank">No British Surrender At Yorktown During First American Revolution from Chuck Thompson

There was no British surrender in Yorktown during the first American Revolution.  The statement is correct when you take into account that the first American Revolution was held one hundred years before what most people consider the first actual American Revolution.  Bacon's Rebellion is often referred to as the first American Revolution and occurred in 1676 lead by Nathaniel Bacon.  This is the newest theme behind our free advertising tools for Gloucester, Virginia businesses.  The tools and source files are all free and it is free for any and every business in Gloucester County to use.

Above is a sample of what a sponsored ad looks like.  We have opened up a larger area for local businesses on this piece.  Businesses can import into the source file documents, photos of their business and there is plenty of room for text to explain and promote your business.  The ad also promises a free e-book download when you visit the sponsor's web site.  We are hosting the download and all any business has to do is just import the download link into their own site so that anyone visiting their site can get the free e-book.

The e-book is the history behind Bacon's Rebellion.

We are giving away a copy of a poster we designed a few years back.  The picture is from one of the buildings in the historic courthouse circle.  We took this photo during one of the revolutionary war re enactments held in the area by the 7th Virginia regiment.  They made a perfect background for this picture.
