Accident On 17 North, Hayes May 15th, 2015: Man Hit While Riding Bicycle

An accident on route 17 North Bound occurred on Friday afternoon, May 15th, 2015.  A man was riding his bicycle along the shoulder of the highway.  From what we have been able to learn he was trying to avoid debris along the shoulder when he accidently pulled out in front of traffic getting hit.  Luckily as we understand it, the man hit on the bicycle did not sustain any life threatening injuries.  The accident happened just across the street from the Tidewater Motel.

Sheriff's deputies responded along with local paramedics and one State Police officer.  The man's bike was going to be left standing against a telephone pole along the highway but good neighbors have moved it across the street and put it into storage inside a commercial building located at 3682 B George Washington Memorial hwy.  Next door to the Tidewater Motel.  The bicycle is still in very good shape except the seat was destroyed by the accident.  The owner of the bicycle can pick up the bicycle anytime by visiting the location listed above.

The driver of the vehicle that hit the bicycle is not identified as it was one of those very unfortunate accidents that from what we have learned, was not the drivers fault.  The vehicle did sustain some damage to the front end.

It proved to be a bad day for two people.

Governor McAuliffe Announces 93 New Jobs in Montgomery County

~ Wolverine Advanced Materials to invest $10.6 million to expand operation~

RICHMOND - Governor Terry McAuliffe announced that Wolverine Advanced Materials (Wolverine) will invest $10.625 million to expand its specialty rubber coated materials manufacturing operation in Montgomery County. The company produces high-performance materials used in automotive and industrial noise reduction for brake and sealing applications. Virginia successfully competed against China, Florida and Illinois for the project, which will create 93 new jobs.

Speaking about the announcement, Governor McAuliffe said, “I am thrilled to announce Wolverine’s significant investment in Montgomery County today.  The company will add manufacturing capacity to reach its key growth markets in China and India, using the Port of Virginia as a gateway for its exports.  Increasing export volumes and creating advanced manufacturing jobs are key components of building a new Virginia economy. This project will benefit not only Montgomery County, but the Port and the Commonwealth as a whole.”

“Montgomery County has been home to Wolverine Advanced Materials’ Virginia facilities for 40 years,” said Maurice Jones, Virginia Secretary of Commerce and Trade. “In the face of global competition, the company’s choice to grow its manufacturing operations in the Commonwealth speaks volumes about the benefits of our business environment, workforce and global access to markets.”

Wolverine Advanced Materials is a leading developer, manufacturer and supplier to global friction and OEM manufacturers such as Daimler, BMW, GM, Chrysler, Ford and other high-quality clients that demand high-performance materials. The company’s core competency is in performance-critical, specialty elastomer-coated metals that offer damping and seal-ability solutions in the Automotive Brake, NVH, and Sealing industries. Extensive industry knowledge and innovative materials have made Wolverine a desired and trusted global supplier for over 80 years. Wolverine has offices in Virginia, Florida, Michigan, Germany, Japan, China, Brazil, and India. Principally owned by Wynnchurch Capital Partners, Wolverine employs approximately 600 people worldwide, with global headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan

“With our rich company history in Virginia, Wolverine is excited about expanding our manufacturing operations in Montgomery County,” said Grant Beard, Chairman, CEO, and President of Wolverine. “This investment will help Wolverine grow its global business while simultaneously benefiting Montgomery County through our expanded workforce.

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership worked with Montgomery County and the New River Valley Economic Development Alliance to secure the project for Virginia. Governor McAuliffe approved a $250,000 grant from the Governor’s Opportunity Fund to assist Montgomery County with the project. The company will receive benefits from the Port of Virginia Economic and Infrastructure Development Grant Program. Funding and services to support the company’s employee training activities will be provided through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program.

“This is a banner day for the Town of Blacksburg,” said Mayor Ron Rordam. “For many years Wolverine has been a powerhouse manufacturer of automotive goods in our community and a provider of quality jobs. We’re excited about the prospect of 93 new positions that will benefit the workforce in Blacksburg and the greater New River Valley and congratulate Wolverine on this tremendous investment in business expansion.”

“We congratulate Wolverine on its decision to expand in Montgomery County where the company has had operations since 1974,” said Montgomery County Board of Supervisors Chair Bill Brown. “The addition of advanced manufacturing positions with an average salary above Montgomery County’s prevailing wages is great news for our local economy.”

“Auto parts continue to be a top commodity moving through The Port of Virginia and the health of the port and auto industry is important to the economic well-being of the nation and the Commonwealth because of jobs,” said John F. Reinhart, CEO and Executive Director of the Virginia Port Authority. “The recent growth in the automotive sector proves that this industry has an excellent business partner in Virginia and this port. We are proud to be Wolverine’s gateway to international trade as the company increases exports while creating new jobs and economic investment in Montgomery County.”

Gloucester, VA Why Teachers Are Not Getting Raises?

The above school board vehicle was at Hardee's restaurant this morning, August 27th, 2014 at 8:24 AM.  Vehicle number was badly damaged and we could only make out 27 as in vehicle number two hundred and seventy something.  No rare state plate was visible on the vehicle at all.  The two guys inside were waving to us as we took their pictures.

The above pictured vehicle was seen yesterday at 7-Eleven across from Hardee's restaurant in the Courthouse Area.  This vehicle is registered to Dave Miller and the person in charge of this vehicle?  Dave Miller.  This van is seen all the time stopping everywhere.  We have more pictures of this van than any other county vehicle.  It belongs to the school board of course.

No other county vehicles were seen at restaurants, stores or other quick market stores recently.  This would seem like one of many reasons teachers in Gloucester County Public Schools do not seem to get well deserved raises.  School board admin and support staff like to waste money.  Over the years, the school board has convinced the teachers that it's the Board of Supervisors who are responsible for teachers not getting raises and the school board each year marches a host of teachers and students before the board of supervisors to complain about not having enough money.

What a scam in our view.  Let's look at some basic facts, the school board has been getting steady increases every year while student enrollment has been falling.  The school board has increased it's administrative staff to an enormous size, wasted millions of untold taxpayer dollars on renovating an old school for their own facilities that is way to large for their needs, but to small for all their wants, wasted even more millions building a new school that simply was not needed, all so certain people could get fatter checks all the while ignoring the basic needs of the teachers and hence, the students.  More typical hypocrisy from the top here in Gloucester County.  Waste at so many levels and we are fed a mantra that it's all for the children.  No it's not.  It's all for the few and screw you.  Buy their hype and BS all you want, it's not about the children no matter how many times they try and sell you that song.

The waste must stop.  So we will keep digging and posting all that we find.  It's time for the teachers of Gloucester County to hold the school board accountable and stop buying the garbage they want to sell you.

Gloucester, VA School Board, Animal Control and Buying It Used Connections?

In the above picture we see a vehicle that is being used by a school board employee and it's parked at McDonald's in the Courthouse area.

License plate number so that there are no questions as to who has it.  This was early Tuesday morning, April 28th, 2014.   The employee, a female, parked at McDonald's and went inside.

About 25 minutes after seeing this same vehicle and employee at McDonald's, we see her car as we are driving down to the other end of the county.  We made a U-turn to see if in fact this was the same car.  It was.  This woman was in Buying It Used.  We do not know if she was just stopping to do some personal shopping or if she may have been conducting county business.

Why this question is important.  Buying It Used, when they opened up, looked a lot like a Gloucester County school board outlet store.  We have found and reported with photo evidence that Buying It Used has sold Gloucester County School Board property in the past.  Why is this an issue?  Buying It Used is owned by a county employee who works for Animal Control here in Gloucester.  Some facts and issues that come to mind.  County excess and old goods must be either dis-guarded properly or sold via auction.  When goods are sold via auction, Gloucester County employees and their families are prohibited from purchasing any goods through auctions.  Most of the items found at Buying It Used come from local auctions but are not to say that they are from local government auctions.

With the fact that Buying It Used has sold Gloucester County school board property in the past, it makes us wonder if the woman pictured above may have been doing a pickup for school board items that may have been sold through that store?  It's a question that we do not have an answer for and can only ask about.  Either way, what was she doing there that could possibly be considered school board business for either being at McDonald's or Buying It Used?

And all of this on top of our last report showing all of the other county vehicles in places that are not being used for county purposes.

Gloucester, VA Government Employees Monday Report

Our report for Monday morning of Gloucester, VA employees abuses and breaking local and state laws is running late this week as meetings and other media issues were forced on us to take a front seat in our attention.

So here is Monday's report.  Gloucester, VA animal control vehicle ,pictured here to the left, was seen driving through the parking lot around the Big Lot's area of the shopping center looking for someone with a camera.  He kept going through the middle of the parking lot looking at all the various vehicles.  He obviously did not see me over at the 7-Eleven.  What was really funny about the entire matter?  Animal Control officers overlooked a woman in a gold Sebring Chrysler convertible with a German Sheppard, unsecured, in the vehicle, with the top down on the vehicle.  So what?  Well in any other case we would agree, except Gloucester has an ordinance that makes this a very clear violation and one we have already argued is not a valid ordinance and have asked to have it removed from the books.  The county has refused to remove it from the books and state that the ordinance is in accordance to state law.  Then why didn't they enforce it here?  Did they violate their oath to uphold county and state laws?  Or did they violate upholding an ordinance they know is a violation?

Now what really concerns me is that his looking for me was personal and not business use of a government vehicle.  Animal Control personnel are obviously concerned with being caught violating the laws and want the reporting to stop.  How is this county business?

Our boy here, Mr Happy meals on wheels made his Monday morning appearance in the same shopping center for the same reason.  He did not stop for his morning happy meal.  He just drove through the lot looking for someone with a camera.  What is interesting to note, he was caught on both Monday morning last week and again on Friday morning last week and here this past Monday, he is still driving around using a county vehicle for his own personal use.  Officials have done nothing to stop employees from using county vehicles for personal use and even when it is reported to county officials, you still see these same people out continuing to do the same thing over and over and over again.

Only now county employees are looking for someone with a camera.  This is a very simple matter.  When county employees stop violating laws, we will stop taking pictures of them violating the laws.  If they start again, we will start again.  So the question remains.  Why can't county officials manage their employees?

Gloucester, VA School Board Employee Caught Breaking The Law.....Again

7:55 AM.  Friday morning, October 4th, 2013.  This is the same employee we caught on Monday at this same place at about the same time.  It's very clear that no one even bothered to talk to him after being caught breaking the law on Monday.  Though I did not take his actual picture, I did identify the drive as the same person as on Monday.

Again we have shown on this site numerous times that government employees are prohibited from using vehicles for personal use.  This is clearly personal use.  It's not only local policy, it's also state code laws.  But then again, how do you blame an employee when you hear that even worse abuses may very well be going on above these employees?  What incentive is there for employees to even care about what the policies or state laws are when those above them keep violating them?  Why hasn't Brenda Garton put an end to all of this?

Your tax dollars continuing to be wasted in front of you.  And not to worry, they will raise your taxes even more as someone has to pay for all of this abuse.  Partial thanks goes to our Mr Happy Meal with his meals on wheels.
