Top Trends of 2014: Iran, Syria, Egypt, Israel, Yemen and Turkey are just a few of the countries facing big problems. Interest rates are going to go up, When interest rates go up, the economy is going down—period. I think they are going to institute more tapering, and it's going to create a financial crisis worldwide. It will be a year of extremes.

Gloucester, VA Mid Penn Vote, BoS Candidates Video

October Mid Pen Vote for Gloucester, Virginia Board of Supervisors seats.  This forum was held Sunday October 13th, 2013 at the meeting room in the Gloucester Courthouse library and started at 3:00 PM.  It ran for about one hour and 20 minutes.  Below is a YouTube video that is more of an audio with a few pictures from this event.  Not everyone could get to this and not everyone was off to come to this forum.  Now is your chance to hear the issues before the candidates and make your own selection based on what you hear and other information you have already gathered.

As soon as we get a chance, we will also be putting up the audio from the school board forum that took place at 2:00 PM this same day.  Make sure to turn off the audio from the radio station playing below.  It's on the right hand side panel and is Xtra 99 FM, the local radio station.  A stop button will pop up when you mouse over the name of the station.

Daffodil Festival 2014 Artwork Now Available For Public View

On display at the local library up at the Gloucester Courthouse location is the latest art prints submitted for the 2014 Daffodil Festival.  Our personal favorite is right here on top.  But that is just us.  The submissions are incredible and we are not looking to take anything away from any of the other artists by any means.  We highly recommend that if you have the time, make sure you make a trip to the library and view these works of art.

Though we like this print, the Coleman bridge in the background is facing the wrong way causing an issue for the viewer who is aware of it.  Now it is only a representation and a good one, but we can not get over that one issue.  This standing chimney is Powhatan's chimney for those who do not know this already.

This print is incredible and one of our favorites.  The only issue we have is that the hot air balloons are distracting.  In the picture it looks nice, but close up, we thought it was a little much.  It's a wonderful folk art piece that shows tremendous talent.

This print is a staff favorite.  Only issue seen with this print is that it does not emphasis Daffodils enough.  This is one you need to see in person to appreciate the detail that went into the painting.

Another great piece where the artist showed wonderful talent.  The only issue seen with this one is that it does not emphasis Gloucester.  If it's only about Daffodil's then this one is at the top of this short list.  Part of the objective in our own view is the dual emphasis on both Daffodil's and Gloucester County.

This is a wonderful piece.  It emphasizes both Gloucester County as well as Daffodil's and Gloucester's historical courthouse circle area.  It was well thought out and executed.

Now these are not the only pictures at the library.  These are only a sampling of what is there.  To see the entire collection, please visit the library to view all the artwork.  You will find it well worth your time if you are one who appreciates art.

Gloucester, VA School Board Candidates Open Public Forum

Candidates for 2014 include from left to right, Andersen, Hook, Parker and Records.  Each are running for positions on the Gloucester county school board unopposed.  One thing we liked that Mr Andersen said was that even though he is running unopposed, a vote for him is still a vote of confidence in his abilities and he would greatly appreciate that.

Ms Hook is a local attorney in the Gloucester area who showed she is very well versed in many areas of the school board's issues and able to articulate matters quite well.

Ms Parker has been a concerned domestic engineer overseeing her families business with a passion to see that present and future education of the area's children are well represented.

Mr Records is an engineer with a great deal of concern over local education and is seeking to fill a position on the school board.  We would like to see Mr Record get that opportunity.
