Silk Road Scandals Still Burning Bitcoin Players

Bitcoin players are still being burned by the Silk Road scandals.  More continue to go to jail for money laundering and we suspect even more will continue to follow.  http://money.cnn.com/2014/01/27/technology/security/bitcoin-arrest/index.html?iid=obnetwork

The above link will take you to a story on CNN money for the latest on troubles surrounding Bitcoin trading.  It's not an issue with the currency itself, it's an issue with the ethics of those trying to take advantage of situations.  Bitcoin transactions are very traceable.  What are these idiots thinking?

In other news.  Bitcoin price values have taken a recent minor fall.  There is a lot of hype to the recent down market of Bitcoin, but it is still holding pretty strong around the $700.00 market per coin at the time of this article.  We do not expect to see a zero bottom like the naysayers like to predict.  It's just not there.

Bitcoin 101 - Getting Your BTCs out of Your Paper Wallets & Cold

Are your bitcoins stuck in cold storage or on your paper wallet? Sure those are both GREAT places to keep them, but how do you get them out? That's the goal of this video. Hopefully by the end of these videos you will no longer be afraid to take your bitcoins out of the reaches of malware programmers.

This is part two of our bitcoin security series. Here's the intro to the series...

=========

Bitcoin security? UGH!!! Way too many bitcoins are being stolen by crafty malware programmers.

Bitcoin does so many things better than banks (trusts, escrows, programmable money, cheap transfers, instant accounts, etc.), but one area that is not quite so nice, is security.

While the bitcoin network, itself, appears bullet-proof, lots of bitcoins are being stolen, via hacking, malware and flaws in online wallets and even google's random number generator.

The answer is to get your bitcoins entirely offline, and the two ways to do this are paper wallets and cold storage. The previous video is an introduction to making both, while this video focuses on how to get your bitcoins out of cold storage (to spend, to move to another wallet, etc).

James walks you through the software and ideas used in making 'sloppy' offline wallets (which are great to have). He also gives suggestions at making even better offline wallets. This is the first of many videos we will make on bitcoin security, and the least technical.

We hope you'll enjoy.

Here's the public address to the wallet we sent the funds too...good luck...hope you get there first.

Could Lewinsky scandal haunt Hillary in 2016?

"HRC" authors explain to CNN's Piers Morgan how the Lewinsky scandal may affect Hillary Clinton if she runs in 2016.

Our Notes:  Surrounded by murder, drug trafficking, stealing, insider trading and every other scandal anyone can imagine has not touched her chances to get this far, why should this prove to be anything different?  She has been rumored to have slept with more women than Bill did.  We do not see where the arguments are.

Piers Morgan Upsets Transgender Guest And That's Just The Beginning

CNN host Piers Morgan demonstrated how not to treat transgender subjects after a problematic interview with transgender activist and author Janet Mock, during which Morgan fixated on the physical aspects of Mock's identity as a trans woman and CNN included an on-screen description stating that Mock "[w]as a boy until age 18." Under fire for his handling of the interview, Morgan responded by bitterly denouncing Mock and her supporters.

Transgender activist Janet Mock appeared on the February 4 edition of Piers Morgan Live to discuss her new memoir Redefining Realness. Rather than focus on the book, however, Morgan repeatedly brought up Mock's physical characteristics and described her as a "boy" before her transition - reinforcing the common problem of journalists objectifying transgender bodies.

In an interview with BuzzFeed after her appearance, Mock took Morgan to task for trying to "sensationalize" her life in the interview. Mock objected to Morgan's focus on her physical appearance - at the beginning of the segment, he marveled that he'd never have guessed "you had ever been a boy" - as well as her sex life and physical transition."* The Young Turks hosts John Iadarola and Ana Kasparian break it down.

Center for Innovative Technology’s Annual 2013 Health IT Survey Shows Virginia Remains a National Leader in Telehealth, Broadband speeds

Today Governor Terry McAuliffe announced the results of the Virginia Center for Innovative Technology’s 2013 Health Information Technology (IT) Assessment, which once again demonstrates Virginia's national leadership in telehealth initiatives.  It also documents faster broadband speeds across the Commonwealth and an increase in adoption rates of electronic health records by Virginia physicians.

“Expanding access and use of cutting edge technologies to grow Virginia’s economy and improve our quality of life is one of my highest priorities,” said Governor McAuliffe. “I am encouraged by this report showing that Virginia is a national leader in telehealth initiatives that will keep communities healthier and that will encourage more entrepreneurs, families, and businesses to locate in the Commonwealth. I look forward to building upon the progress we have made so far to continue to expand broadband access and health technology infrastructure to every region across Virginia.”

The annual assessment identifies gaps in broadband access, trend data related to how gaps are closing and the development of health IT initiatives in Virginia.  It also identifies changes in broadband connectivity across health care provider segments, generates new data used to populate the Commonwealth’s Broadband Map for healthcare facilities and providers, and classifies progress in adoption of key health IT capabilities across the Commonwealth, such as electronic health records (EHR), health information exchange (HIE) and telehealth services.

Dr. Bill Hazel, Virginia’s Secretary of Health and Human Resources, said, “Virginia continues to be a strong leader in the application of health IT, and we are looking forward to accelerating our efforts in this area.”

Important findings include:
·         Virginia is a leader in telehealth adoption and utilization;
·         The HIE marketplace in Virginia is more dynamic and has a larger provider pool relative to many states;
·         Virginia ranks third nationally in EHR adoption among the hospital sector; and
·         Virginia ranks third nationally in download speeds (11.1 Mbps > national average of 8.7 Mbps), which is critical for successful HIE.
The assessment shows that Virginia continues to make progress in broadband deployment.  Since last year, the Commonwealth has risen from 8th to 3rd in national rankings for average download speeds.  Moreover, average broadband speeds have more than doubled since 2010, and Virginia has jumped from 5th to 3rd in its national ranking for hospital-based adoption of Electronic Medical Records over the past two years.

Virginia’s Secretary of Technology Karen Jackson said, “This assessment once again shows that we are continuing to grow the health IT marketplace by building the infrastructure, innovation and expertise needed for sustainable growth.”

The CIT Broadband service line completed the survey in partnership with Broad Axe Technology Partners and in conjunction with the Secretaries of Health and Human Resources and Technology.  It was funded by CIT’s State Broadband Initiative grant awarded by the National Telecommunication and Information Administration.

The findings of the 2013 Health IT Assessment can be viewed online at http://www.wired.virginia.gov/broadband_health_it.shtml .
