Borrowed Wives - Classic Movie

Vintage comedy movie for Friday, Borrowed Wives.  The movie starts out with a very old fashioned speed trap where the cops like to chalk mark each speeder they catch, on the billboard they hide behind.  It's a rather risque movie for the 1930 era.  Well worth the watch.

Sherlock Holmes - Terror By Night - Classic Movie

Now here is a rare treat.  A 1946 Sherlock Holmes movie that was originally filmed in black and white and has been turned into color.  Terror by Night.  With Basil Rathbone as Sherlock Holmes and Nigel Bruce as Dr Watson.  Though these were very popular films back in their day, there were a lot of complaints about them as the films were not close to any of the books.

If you are a purest, you hated these.  If you just like the Sherlock Holmes character, then these were well done.   Either way, we always found them fun to watch.

The Brotherhood Of The Bell - Classic Movie

A highly influential economics professor (Glenn Ford) must pay the price for having been a member of a fraternity which was a front for a powerful cult/secret society. It could ruin his life and destroy his family. Starring Glenn Ford, Dean Jagger, William Conrad.

This previously lost film from 1970 lives on in this old print discovered a few years ago. Efforts at staging a re-make have fallen flat though the apparent audience interest is evident.

The quality is seriously lacking, but the message still comes though.  Classic movies every Friday right here on GVLN.

Classic Movie - Abbott and Costello In Jack and the beanstalk Rare color film

Abbot and Costello in Jack And The Beanstalk.  This is a very rare color film featuring Abbott and Costello as about all of their movies were all black and white.  Filmed in 1951 it was filmed with features similar to the Wizard of Oz with the beginning of the film shot in sepia mode just like the Wizard of Oz had it's opening movie scenes.  The color part of the film was actually produced byLou Costello using his own company and processed with Eastman Kodak.

The other color film produced featuring Bud Abbott and Lou Costello was Abbot and Costello meet Captain Kidd.  With this film, Bud Abbott used his own production company to produce the film.

Watch classic movies right here on GVLN every Friday and Sunday.
