Its activities focus on the key megatrends health, nutrition, resource efficiency, and globalization. Evonik benefits specifically from its innovative prowess and integrated technology platforms.  The company is active in over 100 countries around the world.

"Virginia is a great place to do business,” said Dr. Reinhold Brand, senior vice president and general manager of Evonik's Consumer Specialties business unit in North America. “The state is known as very business-friendly. The region has highly-educated workforce. Talent from all over the world can be attracted to work and live here in Virginia. And it was extremely easy to work with the Governor and his economic development team. Our employees are happy to be in Virginia—and very excited about our bright future with the new facility."

Former Governor Bob McDonnellapproved a $500,000 grant from the Governor’s Opportunity Fund to assist Chesterfield County with the project. Through its Virginia Jobs Investment Program, the Virginia Department of Small Business and Supplier Diversity will provide funding and services to support the company’s recruitment and training activities.

“We are proud to welcome Evonik to our corporate family,” said Jim Holland, Chairman of the Chesterfield County Board of Supervisors. “As a world leader in the manufacturing and developing of specialty chemicals, we are extremely pleased that they have chosen Chesterfield County for their new Business and Innovation Center. State, University Leaders Welcome FAA Decision to Test Unmanned Aircraft

RICHMOND – State and university leaders in Virginia and New Jersey welcomed the Federal Aviation Administration’s approval today of their proposal to operate a test site to integrate unmanned aircraft into the national airspace.

With plans for the University of Maryland to join the partnership, efforts to introduce the safe and responsible use of unmanned aerial vehicles to the nation will be well-represented in the mid-Atlantic.

“We expect unmanned aircraft systems will be extremely useful for agriculture, utilities, search-and-rescue missions, disaster response and a number of applications that will generate jobs, industry and add millions of dollars in revenue to state economies,” said Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell.

In September, McDonnell, Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey, and Gov. Martin O’Malley of Maryland expressed their commitment to jointly support test-site infrastructure in a letter to the Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration.

“Today's announcement brings the next frontier of aerospace research and development to New Jersey, and is an exciting opportunity for our state,” Governor Christie said.  “The cutting-edge research opportunities will create new jobs and spur STEM education, while building upon our deep roots in this arena. The entire state, and especially southern New Jersey, will benefit in the years to come from this important national award.”

The FAA has until 2015 to develop regulations aimed at limiting the privacy and safety concerns associated with unmanned aircraft. Congress called for the establishment of six national unmanned aircraft system research and testing sites through the FAA Modernization and Reform Act of 2012.

While much of the testing to date has been conducted under defense programs, continued work on the integration of unmanned aircraft into the national airspace will be implemented through a combination of federal, state and local government resources, along with academic institutions and private industry.

New Jersey and Virginia submitted a joint proposal led by Virginia Tech as the Mid-Atlantic Aviation Partnership, which unites academic, industry, state government and economic development organizations. The University of Maryland, College Park, was the lead agency in the Maryland application for an FAA test site, bringing together a similar consortium of groups and test ranges.

After submitting the applications, the three universities agreed to work as a united team to enhance the region's competitive position in the event that either or both proposals were selected by the FAA.

More recently, the Commonwealth of Virginia announced it will award $1.0 million during fiscal year 2014 in Federal Action Contingency Trust (FACT) funds to Virginia Tech to operate an unmanned aircraft systems test site. In the introduced budget, Governor McDonnell recommended an additional $1.6 million over the next two fiscal years for this project.

The funds will take the Mid-Atlantic Aviation Partnership from its current “volunteer” status to a fully functional and revenue-producing organization, capable of competitively analyzing and testing unmanned aircraft systems for industry and government.

“With our partners, we firmly believe we can introduce this new technology the right way,” said Jon Greene, interim director of the Mid-Atlantic Aviation Partnership and an associate director of Virginia Tech’s Institute for Critical Technologies and Applied Science. “Separately the team members have flown unmanned aircraft systems for thousands of hours, and now we have joined together to conduct unmanned aircraft systems research, development, and test and evaluation activities.”

In addition to expertise, the mid-Atlantic region contains both uncongested and restricted airspace, land and water terrain, and access to sea-level and high altitudes. The region also has an extensive agricultural base, which is considered the primary growth area for unmanned aircraft systems technology.

Integrating Unmanned Aircraft Systems into the national airspace could add more than $13.6 billion to the nation’s economy by the end of the decade, reaching as high as $82.1 billion by 2025, according to the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International.

Tracking Government Employees - What Gloucester, VA Needs Now

My9 New Jersey

By Jacki Murray, My9TV.com Producer -

In an effort to reduce the abuse of city-owned property, Jersey City implemented a new program for public employees who use city-owned vehicles for their job. Now they are able to track those vehicles with a smartphone app while they are both on and off the clock to see where the vehicles are.

The app uses a GPS tracking system that is installed in the city-owned vehicles to keep track of their locations at all times. Mayor Steven Fulop says, “We can track where they go, how long the ignition has been on for or off for, what the stops are, how long they’d been at each stop, so it creates another measure of accountability.”

The city wants to make sure that public employees are doing the job they’re supposed to be doing. They are tracking vehicles stops, joy rides and after hour usage to see if this device can help save the city money.

Before this app was implemented a public employee was caught after hours using a city vehicle to pick up a prostitute.

The mangers of the city’s Public Works Division are the ones responsible for monitoring these vehicles in real time to make sure employees are where they are supposed to be.

A private company is paying for the pilot program in Jersey City.

COMMENTS:

This looks like just what is needed here in Gloucester.  We have been reporting on local abuses for months now and county officials can not get it under control or are incapable of doing so or have no intention of doing so.  We don't know what their excuse is, but that is all it would be, an excuse.

We have decided to take you on a journey through this fight and at times we will offer commentary that is within our own opinion, but respect the rights for you to form your opinions on the subject matter we publish here.  We are launching this series with a special 911 edition that is video footage shot by an independent film maker that resides in New Jersey, just across the river from Manhattan, where the  main 911 incident took place.  Caution, the video can get boring very fast as you keep thinking to yourself, "I'm waiting for it, waiting for it?  Ugh, when is it going to get there?  Oh there it is!"

The video is one hour and 44 plus minutes long so make sure you have plenty of time to view this piece.  We think it is worth your time as it is the best alternative and well researched piece we have seen to date on 911 possibly being an inside job.  We are not taking sides, we are presenting what is out there that you may not have seen and will never be able to see on the local or national news or newspapers and magazines.  View the video and make your own decisions.  This is the piece of history that has altered life both here in the United States and the world.

GVLN - NBC - FBI Raids NJ Capital's City Hall in Corruption Probe

FBI Raids NJ Capital's City Hall in Corruption Probe
The FBI searched offices in the New Jersey capital's city hall Thursday, NBC 4 New York exclusively reported, a day after raiding the home of the mayor in a growing corruption probe. A city hall worker told NBC 4 New York that federal agents were en route to the office of Trenton Mayor Tony Mack and other office. The FBI declined to comment on the investigation, but New Jersey's impoverished capital city has been marred during Mack's two-year administration by accusations of nepotism and reckless spending. Mack denied any wrongdoing just after the Wednesday morning raid of his home.
