GMO-Science Takes a Blow as Studies Are Retracted

The pesticide producers are one of the most powerful industries on the planet, the influence they possess is enormous. You have probably heard that an Elsevier journal has retracted the Seralini study which showed evidence of harm to rats fed a GMO diet, despite admitting they found no fraud or errors in the study.
This journal had also just recently appointed an ex-Monsanto employee as an editor - one could only guess the value of this strategy for the pesticide industry. Expect Seralini to sue as this story develops, as it appears he has a very strong case.
Alas, the scientific ground on which the genetic engineering of plants is built may now be shakier than ever, thanks to GMO promoting scientists like Dr. Pamela Ronald.  A recent article in Independent Science News1 questions whether she'll be able to salvage her career, as two of her scientific papers (published in 2009 and 2011 respectively) were recently retracted.
With the loss of her credibility, and the domino effect these retractions are likely to cause within the scientific field, the entire chemical technology industry stands to suffer a great blow to its scientific integrity.
"Her media persona... is to take no prisoners," Jonathan Latham, PhD writes.2 "After New York Times chief food writer Mark Bittman advocated GMO labeling, she called him 'a scourge on science' who 'couches his nutty views in reasonable-sounding verbiage.' His opinions were "almost fact- and science-free" continued Ronald.
In 2011 she claimed in an interview with the US Ambassador to New Zealand: 'After 14 years of cultivation and a cumulative total of two billion acres planted, GE crops have not caused a single instance of harm to human health or the environment.'"
She may have to turn down her criticism a notch, considering the fact that not one but two of her own studies were found to contain sizeable scientific errors, rendering her findings null and void. Questions have also been raised about a third study published in 2011, according to the featured article.

Public Face of GMOs Loses Scientific Credibility

Ronald's research group claimed to have identified a molecule used by rice plants to detect pathogenic rice blight, as well as a quorum sensing molecule (meaning a molecule that can coordinate gene expression according to the density of the local population).
These two studies, both of which are now retracted,3, 4 formed the basis of her research program at the University of California in Davis, which is investigating how rice plants detect certain pathogenic bacteria.
Ronald blamed the erroneous work by long gone lab members from Korea and Thailand, referring to the errors as a "mix-up." She didn't name her bungling colleagues, however. And while media coverage applauded Ronald for "doing the right thing" by retracting the studies, the featured article5 questions whether she really deserves such accolades:
"[S]cientific doubts had been raised about Ronald-authored publications at least as far back as August 2012... German researchers had been unable to repeat Ronald's discoveries... and they suggested as a likely reason that her samples were contaminated.
Furthermore, the German paper also asserted that, for a theoretical reason, her group's claims were inherently unlikely. In conclusion, the German group wrote: 'While inadvertent contamination is a possible explanation, we cannot finally explain the obvious discrepancies to the results...'
Pamela Ronald, however, did not concede any of the points raised by the German researchers and did not retract the Danna et al 2011 paper. Instead, she published a rebuttal. 

The subsequent retractions, beginning in January 2013, however, confirm that in fact very sizable scientific errors were being made in the Ronald laboratory. But more importantly for the 'Kudos to Pam' story, it was not Pamela Ronald who initiated public discussion of the credibility of her research.
... Ronald's footnotes [in the explanation that accompanied the retraction of her second article6 admit two mislabelings, along with failures to establish and use replicable experimental conditions, and also minimally two failed complementation tests. Each mistake appears to have been compounded by a systemic failure to use basic experimental controls. 

Thus, leading up to the retractions were an assortment of practical errors, specific departures from standard scientific best practice, and lapses of judgment in failing to adequately question her labs' unusual (and therefore newsworthy) results."

The Snowball Effect of Retracted Studies

According to data from Thomson Reuters,7 the numbers of scientific retractions have climbed more than 15-fold since 2001. What many don't realize is that even a small number of retracted studies can wreak absolute havoc with the science-based paradigm. Other scientists who have based their research on the results from studies that, for whatever reason, end up being retracted, are now perpetuating flawed science as well. In one example, two retracted medical studies led to the retraction of another 17.
In this case, the first of Dr. Ronald's retracted studies has been cited eight times.8The second? 113 times.9 That sounds like an awfully large cleanup job in a field that's already heavily criticized for its preponderance of "lousy science," to use the words of award-winning geneticist Dr. David Suzuki.

The Problem with GMO Plant Science

It's important to realize that genetically engineered plants and animals are created using horizontal gene transfer (also called horizontal inheritance). This is in stark contrast to vertical gene transfer, which is the mechanism in natural reproduction. Vertical gene transfer, or vertical inheritance, is the transmission of genes from the parent generation to offspring via sexual or asexual reproduction, i.e., breeding a male and female from one species.
Horizontal gene transfer, on the other hand, involves injecting a gene from one species into a completely different species, which yields unexpected and often unpredictable results. Proponents of genetically engineered crops assume they can apply the principles of vertical inheritance to horizontal inheritance, but according to Dr. David Suzuki, this assumption is flawed in just about every possible way and is "just lousy science."
Genes don't function in a vacuum — they act in the context of the entire genome. Whole sets of genes are turned on and off in order to arrive at a particular organism, and the entire orchestration is an activated genome. It's a dangerous mistake to assume a gene's traits are expressed properly, regardless of where they're inserted. The safety of genetically modified food is based only on a hypothesis, and this hypothesis is already being proven wrong.
The kind of horizontal gene transfer that is currently used to create new crop seeds tends to produce highly inflammatory foreign proteins. As one would expect, were there a connection, inflammation-based chronic diseases have indeed increased right alongside with the proliferation of GMO foods in the US. Clearly, Dr. Ronald never bothered to look at such data, and her declaration that "GE crops have not caused a single instance of harm to human health or the environment"10 is as lacking in scientific support as her retracted research.

Results from Animal-Feeding Studies Correlate with Human Disease Patterns

According to Jeffrey Smith, who is one of the leaders in educating people about the concerns and dangers of GMOs, there are definitive correlations between the results from animal-feeding studies and the patterns of human disease we're now seeing. For example, the American Academy of Environmental Medicine has done a number of animal-feeding studies on GMOs and specifically enumerated the particular categories of diseases and disorders found in these controlled environments. These include:
Gastrointestinal problemsImmune problemsReproductive problems
Organ damageDysfunction and dysregulation of cholesterolDysfunction and dysregulation of insulin

"You look at the three different corresponding factors: (1) what humans are getting better from, (2) what livestock is getting better from, (3) what afflictions are afflicting the lab animals fed with GMOs, and then you look at what diseases are really taking off in the United States – they're the same categories," Smith says.
For example, kidney problems have been demonstrated in 19 different animal-feeding studies, and kidney diseases are on the rise in the US. Could there be a connection? Smith and I both believe this to be the case. According to Smith:
"We heard from two people at a meeting in Arizona, someone whose husband was nearly on dialysis and someone else who had three kidney transplants – both situations reversed when they changed their diet. You see things like the animal-feeding study out of Russia where the babies were a lot smaller after being fed GE soy, and you see the incidence of low-birth-weight babies is going up in the United States... Deaths from senile dementia moved along at a certain pace, and then when GMOs or Roundup were introduced, it shot up... So, you see these correlations between these four things now: (1) the animal-feeding studies, (2) people getting better [when removing GMO], (3) livestock getting better [when removing GMO], and (4) changes in the disease rates."

GMO Foods Have Never Been Proven Safe for Long-Term Consumption

In 2009, the American Academy of Environmental Medicine called for a moratorium on genetically modified foods, and said that long-term independent studies must be conducted, stating: "Several animal studies indicate serious health risks associated with GM food, including infertility, immune problems, accelerated aging, insulin regulation, and changes in major organs and the gastrointestinal system. …There is more than a casual association between GM foods and adverse health effects. There is causation…"
Despite this sound warning, genetically engineered foods continue to be added to the US food supply with no warning to the Americans buying and eating this food. Genetic manipulation of crops, and more recently food animals, is a dangerous game that has repeatedly revealed that assumptions about how genetic alterations work and the effects they have on animals and humans who consume such foods are deeply flawed and incomplete. Monsanto CEO Hugh Grant claims genetically engineered crops are "the most-tested food product that the world has ever seen." What he doesn't tell you is that:
  1. Industry-funded research predictably affects the outcome of the trial. This has been verified by dozens of scientific reviews comparing funding with the findings of the study. When industry funds the research, it's virtually guaranteed to be positive. Therefore, independent studies must be done to replicate and thus verify results.
  2. The longest industry-funded animal feeding study was 90 days, which recent research has confirmed is FAR too short. In the world's first independently funded lifetime feeding study, massive health problems set in during and after the 13th month, including organ damage and cancer.
  3. Companies like Monsanto and Syngenta rarely if ever allow independent researchers access to their patented seeds, citing the legal protection these seeds have under patent laws. Hence, independent research is extremely difficult to conduct.
  4. There is no safety monitoring. Meaning, once the genetically engineered item in question has been approved, not a single country on Earth is actively monitoring and tracking reports of potential health effects.

Vote with Your Pocketbook, Every Day

Remember, the food companies on the left of this graphic spent tens of millions of dollars in the last two labeling campaigns—in California and Washington State—to prevent you from knowing what's in your food. You can even the score by switching to the brands on the right; all of whom stood behind the I-522 Right to Know campaign. Voting with your pocketbook, at every meal, matters. It makes a huge difference.

As always, I encourage you to continue educating yourself about genetically engineered foods, and to share what you've learned with family and friends. Remember, unless a food is certified organic, you can assume it contains GMO ingredients if it contains sugar from sugar beet, soy, or corn, or any of their derivatives.

Open Letter to the Citizens of Gloucester County Virginia

“For the Common Good. “
Thank you Gloucester County for the support and encouragement you have provided me and this site.
The Virginia Constitution was written by men from all walks of life that wanted us to not live under the rule of an unjust government.  Have you ever read the Constitution of the United States?  How about the Constitution of Virginia?
Today I would like to look at Mr. Thompson’s blog: Beware The Agenda 21 Protesters
Specifically, I want to look at statements in the conclusion: Why would anyone fight the UN when we should be fighting for our Constitutional Rights as well as our Bill of Rights which by US law, has no higher authority? Instead the questions should be asked, who elected any of the United Nations officials and or politicians to begin with, and what charter are they working from, under what authority?”
Are these statements correct? To do this we will use the United States Constitution.  The source I am using is: THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION (http://constitutionus.com/)
Based on the US Constitution Article I, Section 10
“1: No State shall enter into any Treaty, Alliance, or Confederation; grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal; coin Money; emit Bills of Credit; make any Thing but gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts; pass any Bill of Attainder, ex post facto Law, or Law impairing the Obligation of Contracts, or grant any Title of Nobility.”
The States do not have the right to form a Treaty with the UN or anyone else.  So they have no justification to change any laws based on UN or other requirements.  Who has the right to make Treaties?  That is covered in Article II, Section 2
“2: He [The President (added to clarify)] shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; and he shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States, whose Appointments are not herein otherwise provided for, and which shall be established by Law: but the Congress may by Law vest the Appointment of such inferior Officers, as they think proper, in the President alone, in the Courts of Law, or in the Heads of Departments.”
This is pretty clear the President can make Treaties.  However, this is not the end of the Constitution and there are other areas that have to be considered and followed to make changes to US law that impacts The US Constitution.  Article IV, Section 4
“The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.”
I think that maybe this would be used to important to stop an UN invasion of our Republican form of government?  However, the founding Fathers being that they did not trust foreign powers or people with less than honorable intentions set up a process that has to be followed to change our Constitution and Agenda 21 and other UN Treaties do just that.  Article V
“The Congress, whenever two thirds of both Houses shall deem it necessary, shall proposeAmendments to this Constitution, or, on the Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States, shall call a Convention for proposing Amendments, which, in either Case, shall be valid to all Intents and Purposes, as Part of this Constitution, when ratified by the Legislatures of three fourths of the several States, or by Conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other Mode of Ratification may be proposed by the Congress; Provided that no Amendment which may be made prior to the Year One thousand eight hundred and eight shall in any Manner affect the first and fourth Clauses in the Ninth Section of the first Article; and that no State, without its Consent, shall be deprived of its equal Suffrage in the Senate.”
I do not remember any Constitutional amendments being offered on Agenda 21.  However, there does seem to be some validity to UN Treaties being made into the law of the land.  Article VI
“2: This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States,shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding.”

We now need to consider are the UN Treaties the law of the land?  If only there was something else in the US Constitution that superseded this statement?  Maybe amendments to the Constitution that were approved after this date can clarify what Treaties can do.  The Bill of Rights does just that limiting the power of the President and Congress.  Let look at some of these amendments and see if treaties are supreme?

Article [I]
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
Maybe we should use this to redress grievances?  What other rights are they trying to get rid of by Treaty?  Article [II]
“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
We need to remember this with another UN Treaty.
This is a good start to saying the UN Treaties and not enforceable without further changes to the Constitution is there more?  Article [IV]
“The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, againstunreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”
Maybe they cannot take our property?  What else stops the Treaties?  Article [IX]
“The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.”
IS there something else?  Article [X]
“The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”
It appears the Bill of Rights limits the rights of President in the Treaties he makes.  He cannot make treaties to steal our rights guaranteed in the Bill of Rights.  Looks to be a continued abuse of power by the President and Congress?
Let’s go back to where we started this article: Why would anyone fight the UN when we should be fighting for our Constitutional Rights as well as our Bill of Rights which by US law, has no higher authority? Instead the questions should be asked, who elected any of the United Nations officials and or politicians to begin with, and what charter are they working from, under what authority?”
Based on this analysis it appears Mr. Thompson is very correct.  Maybe it is time to take back our rights, our government and our property.  We should start at the local level and tell our elected officials to obey the Law of the land the US Constitution and the Virginia Constitution and if they are not willing to sign on the bottom line to obey these documents they need to be removed from office.
Bring back the rule of legal laws and responsible budgets and make this "The Land of the Life Worth Living" for everyone in the county.

Gloucester, VA Board of Supervisors Budget Meetings Open To Public

We have been in contact with several members of the Gloucester County Board of Supervisors as well as county Administrator Brenda Garton.  We have been informed that the upcoming budget meetings are open to the public.

  We have also been told that the reason for the meetings not being televised is due in part to the costs associated with doing so.  We have also been informed that the meetings will not be recorded either.  

When one county resident found out about all of this, he submitted this response.

So one of the reasons to limit transparency to shut in and or disabled folks is cost?  I find that totally unacceptable.  Had previous work sessions been conducted with total transparency the County would likely not be in the shape it is in now.  The amount of money wasted on little things like wages and gas to drive County vehicles for private use could more than cover this transparency issue.
 
No, there is no law requiring that meetings be broadcast or recorded, but as Mr. Thompson's article points out, there is a law allowing "anyone" to record or broadcast the meetings.  The law also says the governing body cannot prohibit such.  If one Gloucester County tax payer asks for the meetings to be broadcast or recorded how can the governing body deny that request when the facilities, equipment and wages are being paid for by tax payers for the explicit purpose of government transparency.
 
I too ask for the County budget work session meetings to be broadcast and video recorded.

Decoding The Gloucester Main Street Shopping Center Symbols


In the picture above, we see the Main Street Office.  This is located at the Gloucester Main Street Shopping Center.  Where the Gloucester Main Street Library is located.  Just above the Main Street Office name on the building is a round circle with a cross in the middle of a white background.  What does it mean?  Well we asked the folks who own the shopping center, specifically, Jenny Crittenden, who is the executive director.  The answer we got back was that the design means nothing and is not associated with anything.  Well to us that means one of two issues.  One, she is possibly lying.  Two, she really has no idea.

  In all fairness, we do not think she was lying to us.  It is our opinion that she really does not know what the symbols used throughout the shopping center and by the Gloucester Main Street Association mean.  So what does that emblem mean?  Well so far we have compiled 6 pages of facts as to the meaning of this symbol.  The main clues is to realize that Gloucester, and specifically, Main Street, has a very large and old history of Masonry.  One of the oldest lodges in the nation is found right on Main Street.  Lodge number 7 to be exact.

  Symbols have meaning in a town like this.  We are going to give you the Masonic meaning of the symbol as well as other meanings.  We will leave it all up to you as to whether or not you think the symbol or design has any meaning at all.  In Freemasonry, it is the symbol of Baal.

Baal:

 A Hebrew or Canaanitish name, signifying lord.  The phoenicians or Sidonians who went to Judea to build Solomon's Temple carried with them the mysteries of Baal represented by the sun, and many of the decorations of the temple referred to his system of worship.  The sun was a significant symbol of the Tyrian architects, and also of the Druids, as it is now of the Masonic Brotherhood.

(Baal:  Meaning in Masonic lore from; "A Dictionary of Freemasonry, by Robert Macoy.  Gramercy Books, Publication Date; Unknown").

Other names and histories of the above symbol is the sun wheel and the solar wheel.  Just about all representing the sun.  It is used in Celtic, Pagan, Hedonist, Satanic, Luciferian, Wiccan, Catholic and other occult as well as religious theories and thoughts.


Isn't it striking how this above picture taken from a site on the Internet that shows the cross of Baal is so similar to the symbol used at the Gloucester Main Street Shopping center?

Now let's look at what is above the cross of Ball at the Main Street Shopping Center Main Office.  Well that looks like a pyramid or capstone.  And then there are the pyramid light fixtures.  But hey, it's just a design coincidence, right?  The Masonic order does not use Egyptian symbols now do they?  Nah, they are just loaded with it at every level and we would have to write a book here to to show you all of it.  So let's just say it reeks of Masonic symbols.


The main sign at the Gloucester Main Street Center or Shopping Center.  Oh, look, a little lamppost in the center of a circle.  What could that mean?  It could very well be illumination.  Let's study illumination for a moment shall we?

  What is illumination?  False Light?  Let's look at this concept for a moment.

Spiritual or intellectual enlightenment.
synonyms: enlightenment, insight, understanding,awareness;
learning, education, edification
"it was an era of great illumination"

Now here is a very serious secret that you will need to read very carefully and closely.  Illumination only comes from the dark.  You can only be enlightened from the dark.  It is very limited light.  In the dark, when illumination occurs, it is only able to take place in a small field.  

  Again, pay very close attention here.  Hold off on your illumination and wait for the light of day.  The light of day paints a much larger picture that you just can not get from illumination.  Under illumination, the darkness still persists around it.  In the light of day, there is no darkness.

Here is an example;  It is interesting to note that when Christianity was introduced to Rome, the Roman empire crumbled.  (Illumination).  The phrase just given is correct.  However, let's now put that same information before the light of day.

Rome was already in a major state of decay when Christianity was being introduced.  The Pagan's of the period fought the Christians tooth and nail in every area of thought.  As the Pagan's prevailed, Rome crumbled before them.  
(Light of day information).  

Illumination often leads those who seek information to the wrong conclusions.  It's not that the information was incorrect, it was just highly limited.  You just didn't get the full story.  


Under illumination, you get a limited picture of the entire scope of things.  Here is what is coming at you let's say.


Now here is the same picture, only with the full light of day.  Here is what is really coming at you.  That is a very different view, but both are correct.  It's the same picture.  Just one is illuminated and the other is the light of day. 

So the next time someone seeks to illuminate you, you can thank them for the information, but hold off on it and wait to see what the light of day says about that information.  Illumination is a very crafty fellow.

Now, the owners of the Main Street Center here in Gloucester are the Gloucester Main Street Preservation Trust.  Let's look at a few more of their symbols.


Above is a screenshot from their main website and we use this under fair use laws of the United States for this news story.  Look to the left hand side of their name.  A pretty 5 patterned emblem.  Does it have any meaning?  Nah, it can't.  Besides, it's just to cute.  Let's look a little closer anyway.

  
Oh look.  It's a pentagram.  A 5 pointed star in a circle.  Invisible at first glance.   But it just has to be a coincidence.  

  
Oh wait, there is still more.  Inside that yellow circle is an 8 pointed star.  The 8 pointed star by the way is perfectly designed inside that area and made as two square boxes put together.  Under certain mystery schools, this is the symbol of the goddess Venus.  The goddess of Love.  How magical.  So we have the goddess of love in the center of a pentagram.  Now that really is magical.  

  In an area steeped in Masonic tradition, to tell us that these design elements have no meaning and are just design creations, one has to be pretty far out on another planet to buy that.  But hey, it's still possible.  There sure seems to be a lot of coincidences here now don't ya think?

  To be as fair as possible, most people in the Masonic order are on lower levels of the order.  Most can not nor will not progress to the top levels as their own faiths and or belief systems just will not allow them to.   They are never told that they are being blocked for these reasons either.  It is the ones at or near the very top of the order that you really need to question what they are up to as they seek to illuminate so many.

Governor McAuliffe Statement on the Retirement of Virginia Superintendent of Public Instruction Patricia I. Wright

RICHMOND, Va. – Governor Terry McAuliffe released the following statement in response to today’s announcement that Virginia Superintendent of Public Instruction Patricia I. Wright will retire on May 1st, 2014:

“I want to thank Superintendent Pat Wright for her exemplary work making our education system better for Virginia’s students, educators and economy. As a product of Virginia public schools, a former public school math teacher and a statewide education leader, Pat is living proof of the opportunity our schools can offer students and educators across the Commonwealth. Few have made a greater difference in the lives of Virginians than Pat Wright has, and I have no doubt that her legacy will endure in the students and colleagues she mentored and inspired.

“I also want to thank Superintendent Wright for staying on through May 1st as my team and I seek a qualified education leader to continue her great work. In the coming weeks we will evaluate candidates and choose a Superintendent who will work alongside Secretary Anne Holton and our entire team to strengthen our education system and prepare every Virginia student to succeed in a 21st Century economy.”
