Notes on Gloucester County Board of Supervisors second February meeting

Open Letter to the Citizens of Gloucester County Virginia

The Virginia Constitution was written for us to limit the government intrusion into our lives.  Have you ever read the Constitution of the United States? How about the Constitution of Virginia? How about the County Code?

"The Land of the Life Worth Living" for everyone in the county.

I was watching your second February meeting good questions.  Keep asking them.  We do not need to be expanding the county government and land holdings (NO NEW LAND.  NO NEW TAXES.  Being in DEBT $96 Million is enough).  You had good discussions throughout the meeting.  It makes the meetings longer but you are able to make informed decisions.  Mr. Orth you did a good job when the exchange got a little unprofessional in calling a 5 minute break.

I also have to say that is the first time I have heard Mr. Wilmot look out for the county and not a special interest; please keep it up.

Again  I have a request; please take the kool aid away from Mr. Hutson if he keeps making irresponsible comments he will have a difficult time when he comes up for re-election.  This is not the board you were on last year.  If Mr Hutson were any of the other board members I would say pretend it is your money you are spending but we know the sound financial decisions you have made in the past.

Mr. Hutson I will say there was one positive you brought to the meeting about sewer connections.  It cost $50,000 when the system went in to cross Rt 17 that is a non starter for small businesses to connect to the system.  Thanks for looking out for the people of Gloucester and not just the few.

Bring back the rule of legal laws and responsible budgets and make this "The Land of the Life Worth Living" for everyone in the county.

I am not a lawyer and cannot give legal advice.  Our founding fathers used common sense and Christian scripture when establishing our founding documents.

“For the Common Good. “

Sincerely,
Alexander James Jay

"Public virtue cannot exist in a nation without private, and public virtue is the only foundation of republics. There must be a positive passion for the public good, the public interest, honor, power and glory, established in the minds of the people, or there can be no republican government, nor any real liberty: and this public passion must be superior to all private passions." --John Adams, letter to Mercy Warren, 1776

Turn the volume up on the video itself and also on your speakers to hear everything properly.  We have spent a good amount of time watching the above video and are very impressed overall with the new board and how everything was handled.  Tough questions were in fact asked and they needed to be.  Tough decisions were put on hold for good reasons.  Nothing was put through that just got a free pass just because someone asked for it.  This was very impressive.  Even Ted Wilmot did a decent job here for a change.  There are a lot of issues with streaming this video.  It freezes about every 20 minuets at best.   We have had it freeze up after 5 minutes and it always goes back to the beginning once it freezes up.

Hopefully the county can do something to improve these issues or we will just download them and re upload them unto YouTube for better streaming.

Our Notes:  Civil unrest all around the world and it continues to grow everywhere.  This seems like a little more than a trend.

Obama Can't Get Dems To Back Horrible Trade Deal

*U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman -- President Barack Obama's top trade official -- ventured into it Tuesday evening, meeting with a group of liberal leaders in a ritual known as Common Purpose -- an off-the-record weekly gathering that features an administration official and representatives of the Democratic coalition, from labor and environmental groups to consumer advocates and online progressive groups.

Froman's appearance was part of a stepped-up charm offensive the U.S. trade representative is waging, hoping to soften liberal opposition to the Trans-Pacific Partnership, the free trade deal Obama is attempting to cut with Asian nations. The same day, Froman spoke publicly at the Democratic-aligned think tank Center for American Progress. GOP leaders in Congress support the trade pact, which is still being negotiated. But Democratic opposition is broad in both the House and Senate, making Froman's mission critical if the Obama administration hopes to clear the agreement through Congress when it is finished. And if the reception at the Common Purpose gathering is any indication, a lot more charm will be needed. The liberal coalition was unusually unified -- against the administration...* The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur breaks it down.

Our Notes:  Sorry, republicans won't claim him and do not want him either.  He's a democrat.  Not that either party is worth anything anyway.  They are really both the same that play the people and the people can't figure that out.

The overall arguments given are on the right track but still misguided as to party politics.  It's just part and parcel to the New World Order.  It's not a good deal for anyone.  It just takes away more rights and leaves less for the people.

Facebook's 19 Billion Dollar Purchase - WhatsApp With That?

"What is WhatsApp? WhatsApp is a mobile messaging service that functions as a kind of a social network. WhatsApp users can send messages to one or many recipients at the same time, and they can even share their locations.

In many ways, WhatsApp's users are just the kind of customers Facebook is looking for. They are extremely active, sending more than 600 million photos a day -- more photos than Facebook (FB, Fortune 500) users upload. A whopping 70% of WhatsApp users are active every day. By way of comparison, 62% of Facebook users are active daily.

People around the world send 19 billion WhatsApp messages per day, including 200 million voice messages and 100 million videos."* The Young Turks hosts Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian break it down.

Governor McAuliffe Statement on General Assembly Votes on Marketplace Virginia Amendment

Governor Terry McAuliffe released the following statement after the Senate of Virginia and Virginia House of Delegates’ votes on a budget amendment to use Virginians’ federal tax dollars to offer hundreds of thousands of people who fall into the Medicaid coverage gap access to a private health insurance plan:

“I commend the bipartisan group of legislators from both chambers of the General Assembly who voted today to put their constituents and Virginia’s economy ahead of partisan politics. Because of those votes, the Senate budget contains a smart, market-based path forward to covering more Virginians and growing our economy in the process. While I am disappointed that House Republicans chose ideology ahead of what’s best for the Commonwealth on this preliminary vote, I remain optimistic that members of both parties can find common ground to accept this good deal for Virginia.

“Passing the Marketplace Virginia proposal will expand coverage for up to 400,000 Virginians, create as many as 30,000 jobs and save the state budget $1 billion dollars between now and 2022. That is why Democrats and Republicans in the Senate and the House of Delegates, the Virginia Chamber of Commerce, and a number of other business and health care organizations support the language in the Senate budget establishing Marketplace Virginia. As the budget process moves forward, I hope the House Republican leadership will join the broad bipartisan consensus that Virginia families and our economy are more important than rigid partisan ideology.”
