STUFFED CAULIFLOWER - Recipe of the day

Something Different:

Pick over a fine cauliflower, and plunge it for a moment in boiling water. Look over it well again and remove any grit or insects. Put it head downwards in a pan when you have already placed a good slice of fat bacon at the bottom and sides. In the holes between the pan and the vegetable put a stuffing of minced meat, with breadcrumbs, yolks of eggs, mushrooms, seasoning of the usual kinds, in fact, a good forcemeat. Press this well in, and pour over it a thin gravy. Let it cook gently, and when the gravy on the top has disappeared put a dish on the top of the saucepan, turn it upside down and slip the cauliflower out. Serve very hot.

Make Something Extraordinary Tonight.

Federalist Papers No 6, Concerning Dangers From Dissensions Between The States

Federalist Papers No 6 Concerning Dangers From Dissensions Between the States from Chuck Thompson

Alexander Hamilton begins his turn writing the Federalist Papers starting with this paper concerning dangers from dissensions between the states.  Often called propaganda papers, one has to ask after reading this paper, if Hamilton was right?  Consider the Civil War.  Dissension between the states were well under way during that period.  So was it really propaganda like so many people would have you believe today or prophetic?

Sunrise Donuts and Sweets of Gloucester, VA - Questions of Business Professionalism

Above is a screen capture from the Sunrise Donuts and Sweets shop Facebook page that shows a very serious question of business ethics.  Highlighted on the screen capture, in yellow, is very foul language one would never expect to see on any business site unless of course you were in the porn business where it is then expected.  The area is towards the top left hand side above the Chocolate comes from cocoa tree picture graphics.  The statement says; "I Don't give a F--k if you're offended's photo".

In fairness, from what we are able to determine, Sunrise Donuts did not write the post, they simply shared the post.  Still, the decision to do so on a business site such as Sunrise Donuts and Sweets is not showing sound business ethics or practices.  But then again what can one expect from a site that also makes the statement, "Home of the crazy chick."   We have no objections to people sharing items like this on their personal pages.  It's freedom of speech.  But to share it on a business page?  Come on folks, get with it.  That is simply poor judgement.

Virginia Tied for 5th Lowest Gas Prices in Nation; Average Price for Gallon of Gas in Virginia Nearly 20 Cents below National Average
A year ago Virginians were paying 24 cents more per gallon

RICHMOND- Headed into the Labor Day weekend AAA Mid-Atlantic reports that the average price for regular unleaded gasoline in Virginia last week was $3.36 per gallon, nearly 20 cents below the national average of $3.54 per gallon.  AAA-Mid Atlantic further found that Virginia is tied for the 5th lowest gas prices in the nation and that a year ago Virginians were paying, on average, 24 more cents per gallon.

Speaking about the report, Governor McDonnell remarked, “Gas prices are falling across the Commonwealth and that is good news for Virginians. After nearly three decades of gridlock we came together this year and passed a historic bipartisan transportation funding solution which reduced the tax on gas, and now motorists are seeing the results at the pump. Our bold action on transportation means that new road, bridge and rail projects are underway across the Commonwealth. Virginians are spending less on gas and will soon be spending less time stuck in traffic.”

Governor McDonnell’s landmark transportation plan, passed by the General Assembly this year, reduced the gas tax at the pump in Virginia by 6 cents per gallon.  A year ago, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel in Virginia, was $3.60, or 14 cents below the national average. For more information on gas prices in Virginia from AAA Mid-Atlantic please click here.
