Gloucester, VA School Board Meeting Video, March 11th, 2014

March 11th school board meeting here in Gloucester, Virginia.  Turn the volume way up on the video itself and then turn the volume way up on your speakers.  It's near impossible to hear these folks.  You have to wonder if this is done on purpose.

Gloucester, VA Real Estate Investment Zone

The above picture has the Heart of Gloucester outlined which is the new hot bed area or zone for Gloucester development.  What we have done is highlighted the area that is of the highest level of importance for future real estate investments.  It's all in the area along route 17.  You want to figure the hottest investment zones along 17 are where the new Page Middle school is going up to the Short Lane road is.  Anything on either side of the road with decent amount of space is of the highest priority for investment.  Just below or above the highlighted area is also within a pretty decent area for having and or holding investments.

If you presently own real estate in this zoned area, it is probably worth much more than you think and you may be getting approached to think about selling it if you have not already.  Do not get lowballed here.  There are plans well in the works for this area and we will be going over these plans in the upcoming months.

We do not have any inside sources or we would be breaking the law right now.  We have just been able to put together all of this information based on paying attention to what the Board of Supervisors, School Board and certain concerns in the county have been telling us all.  You really should pay close attention, they are not hiding any of this.  They are just not putting it into black and white for you.

Investment groups are also a good idea.  If anyone wants help starting one, let us know.  We know exactly what and where to buy based on our research and paying attention to what is going on.

Capt. George's owner appears in court Accused of holding illegal gambling operation

Updated: Tuesday, 02 Jul 2013, 12:54 PM EDT

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - His house of cards has collapsed, and now one of the area's most famous restaurant owners is fighting to stay out of prison.
Capt. George's Seafood Restaurant owner George Pitsilides maintains the game police broke up in April 2011 was legal. The Virginia Beach Commonwealth's Attorney argues they were illegal games of chance. Pitsilides went to court, and WAVY.com was the only news outlet there.
Pitsilides' side wanted the charges dropped, but that did not happen. Towards the end of the year, a jury will decide whether Capt. George is on a sinking ship.
Pitsilides stood accused of operating a continuous gambling operation, specifically Texas Hold Em.
"We believe Texas Hold Em is a game of skill, and all of the experts we have submitted to the court will testify it is a game of skill," said Pitsilides' attorney James Broccoletti.

The most compelling information came from Card Dealer Randal John. He dealt cards at the gambling house across the street from Capt. George's Seafood Restaurant. Pitsilides was often there along with his co- defendant Lisa Marie Crain, who was more of a server of food and drink. John said Virginia Beach Police would often show up too.
"They would come in and ask what was going on, and we'd say we're playing poker...no one ever stopped us, and no one ever said it was illegal," said John.

Commonwealth's Attorney Harvey Bryant said, "We don't know who the officers were, but they gave us enough information to infiltrate the game with an undercover agent."

Testimony suggests the poker games were friendly, and invite only.
"Everyone was friendly and everyone was friends," John added. Four to 12 players would sit around a table, and once you sat down, you were expected to stay at least three or four hours. Pitsilides and Crain would take the money, put it in a metal box, and put it in a back room or the attic until it was time to go home.

Crain's attorney brought up the Virginia Beach Fraternal Order of Police held similar games, but were told by Bryant to close down the games and no one was ever charged.
"No charges were ever filed or taken out with regard to the Fraternal Order of Police, and they were given the opportunity to shut down their game, and no one was ever charged," said Adrianne Bennett. "I think these folks are being targeted because they are individuals who are successful financially. So, I guess it makes it a more interesting story, I suppose."

Commonwealth's Attorney Harvey Bryant said the FOP case was different.
"The FOP was leasing space to another organization who put on the games. It was not continuous...Pitsilides has prior convictions, and knew what was going on in his gambling operation," Bryant said.
Pitsilide's side argued the State Codes are vague, especially in defining what is an illegal game of chance and a legal game of skill.
"Therefore, if it is a game of skill, it is not gambling. If it's not gambling, it is not illegal. If it is not illegal, there is no crime," Broccoletti said.

The Commonwealth argued in the game, what ends up in your hand is completely chance, and if you need an ace and you have a two, no skill is going to change that.
"But are you holding an Ace or a two? That is the crux. You don't know what I have, and therefore betting is an aspect of skill, folding is an aspect of skill, preserving your hand is an aspect of skill," Broccoletti countered.

Broccoletti will tell a jury the General Assembly laws are poorly drafted and vague, and the laws defining games of chance and games of skill can change from one Hampton Roads city to another.

Broccoletti also said any money that card dealers took from the table during big chip hands was to pay for food, drink, and other expenses in putting on the games. Broccoletti said at no time did the "House" ever keep any money.
Commonwealth's Attorney Harvey Bryant said the only people who say poker is a game purely of skill are the ones who want to legalize illegal games.

Are you guilty of smoking pot if you do not inhale?  Are you guilty of drinking booze if you do not swallow it?  Are you guilty of drug possession if you do not use or distribute drugs but have them on your person?  If you are betting money on a game, you are gambling.

Fallen trees condemn Peninsula homes - WAVY TV 10 News Updates

Updated: Friday, 14 Jun 2013, 6:15 PM EDT
Published : Friday, 14 Jun 2013, 6:15 PM EDT

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - Residents across Hampton Roads spent the Friday cleaning up after Thursday's severe weather. The hardest hit areas were on the Peninsula and in James City County.
At least four homes were condemned due to storm damage in James City County. Five homes were condemned in Newport News. Several residents whose homes were condemned told WAVY.com they can't get over how close they were to being injured or killed by the fallen trees.
Some would look at the uprooted tree lying on Linda Roger-Johnson's home and see devastation. But Johnson and her husband can only see how fortunate they are that their loved ones are alive.
"My home can be replaced, and my granddaughter wasn't sitting in that room," Johnson said. "That tree would have hit her for sure if she was there, and she would have got it."
Johnson's 31-year-old daughter was the only one in the home on Windsor Castle Road when the storm passed through Thursday night. Johnson said she and her granddaughter were at the store when the
tree came crashing down on her home.
"She called me and said, 'Something hit the house, and I can't breathe," Johnson said.
Johnson's daughter is on oxygen 24 hours a day. Neighbors told 10 On Your Side they could see Johnson's daughter pleading for help after the tree fell over.
"My husband and a neighbor ran over there to see if somebody was inside," neighbor Christy Smith said. "We could hear someone yelling that they couldn't breathe."
Neighbors weren't able to reach Johnson's daughter. Emergency officials arrived quickly and pulled her from the home. She was not injured, just very scared.
Even after almost losing her daughter and being forced out of her home because of tree damage, Johnson said when she looks at her condemned home she only thinks about how much she still has, not how much she's lost.
"What goes through my mind is, 'Thank God nobody was hurt. Thank God that tree didn't shift over to where my daughter was or cause any damage to break the wall down," Johnson said. "There are so many areas I can look at and see a blessing."
Johnson's family has homeowner's insurance. The family will be living out of a hotel until their home is repaired.
Tom Laveille's childhood home was destroyed by a fallen tree Thursday night as well. His home is now covered by a tarp where a large tree smashed through his house.
"When you see a tree inside your house you think a lot differently," Lavielle said.
Lavielle said you think about how much you won't get back.
"One of the rooms we lived in is basically destroyed," Lavielle said. " All the furniture and all the memories that I can relate to are gone."
Lavielle said when a tree damages your home you also think about how close your loved ones were to danger. Lavielle's mother was in the backyard with her dog watching the storm come in Thursday night when she heard a loud noise.
"She was walking towards the door and she said the tree hitting the house shook her to the ground, and it took pictures off the wall," Lavielle said. "When she got up, it was snowing installation inside the house."
His mother managed to crawl out of the home, unharmed. And, if having their home condemned wasn't bad enough, Lavielle said looters tried to steal from them overnight.
"People have tried to rob the house multiple times just in one night ," Lavielle said. "We had telephone calls from police officers saying, 'We've been at your house. People are trying to get into your house.' It's really odd that someone would really want to kick you when your down."
