GVLN - NYC Officials Shut Down Free Vibrator Carts

Tragedy struck Manhattan yesterday when city officials shut down a vibrator giveaway sponsored by Trojan. The condom company planned to give out 10,000 of their new vibes from pushcarts at three tourist-heavy locations: Rockefeller Center, South Street Seaport, and the Flatiron District, which is near The Frisky’s offices. New Yorkers congregated for free $40 Trojan Tri-Phoria vibes (two thumbs up, says I!) or a free $30 Trojan Pulse.  Yet less than an hour into the event, an unnamed city official pooh-poohed the crowds and told Trojan’s Pleasure Carts to pack up and go home.
Horny area woman Linda Postell was irate about the shutdown, huffing to The New York Post, “I’m 57-years-old. I should be able to get a vibrator! I have a problem with the smoking ban and the soda ban — and now this!

Gloucester, VA - J Lo's Boob Falls Out On TV, Is It Okay To Look? (NSFW)

You can go to hundreds of websites on the internet to find nude shots of celebrities. The pictures you’ll see there come in all forms and sizes, and they’re acquired through a variety of methods. Sometimes it’s willing nudity as in Mr. Skin’s reposting of nude scenes. Sometimes it’s unwilling nudity as in that sketchy and immoral video where someone filmed Erin Andrews undressing through the peephole of her hotel room. We don’t cover either of those types of nudity here at Pop Blend. Call us crazy but we think you should actually have to sit through a movie to see the nude scene in context, and we also think invading someone’s privacy by illegally creeping in their private space is dirty and wrong. That being said, if you go ontelevision or in a public place wearing an outfit that doesn’t cover up the goods, that’s fair game.

Such was the case with Jennifer Lopez during her appearance on the German television show Wetten dass…. Moving around, braless, in a free flowing top, the American Idol judge briefly let it all hang out, much to the surprise and probable delight of many viewers watching the variety show live. When is a nipple slip just a nipple slip and when is it actually news? I’d argue, if the person’s famous and it happened in a surprising or public context, there’s no differentiating between the two. That’s why movie nudity isn’t typically a worthwhile story, but Anthony Weiner’s erection is. Everymajor media outlet unabashedly reported Janet Jackson’s epic mishap at the Super Bowl, and Lopez’s blunder was largely the same thing, just on a much smaller scale. Author: Mack Rawden

Gloucester, VA - ALF Movie To Be Developed By Sony Pictures Animation

Cover of "Project: ALF"
Cover of Project: ALF
Hide your cats, people, it looks like ALF may be making a comeback. "Remember Alf? Well he's back. In movie form!" - Identify that (modified) quote and attempt to wrap your mind around the thought of an ALF movie, because it sounds like Sony Pictures Animation is looking to make one happen.

THR posted the news, stating that Sony Pictures Animation has acquired the rights to ALF, the sci-fi sitcom from the 80's, which followed the (other '80's) Tanner family and the Alien Life Form (ALF) that crash landed on their property, and went on to take up residence in their home. Sony is aiming to develop the property into a hybrid CG/live action feature. Series creator Paul Fusco and producer Tom Patchett are said to be on board to produce the project, along with Jordan Kerner (The Smurfs).

Burner wants to help you temporarily obfuscate your phone numbe

Image representing iPhone as depicted in Crunc...

App turns your digits into a disposable number—for a small fee, of course.

by  - Aug 8 2012, 7:15pm ED

"Burning" a communication device has been a mainstay of those interested in privacy, from the IMF (you know, from Mission: Impossible) to the corner boys on The Wire, and everyone in between. Those of us who aren’t superhuman secret agents or clever criminals may have a much more mundane reason for wanting to create a temporary phone number that routes to your actual number. Someone creating an online ad, a telemarketer trying to appear local so you'll pick up, or an uncertain party in a blind date could all use a throwaway number. Enter Burner, an iPhone app that debuted on Wednesday.
Sure, these days, you can use Google Voice, SkypeIn, or a number of any other services, but what’s nice about Burner is that you can do it from your own iPhone (an Android version is coming soon) in an instant. All I had to give Burner was my phone number. The company doesn’t even know my name or have my e-mail address. And yes, as expected, some people are already using it to create "casual encounters"-style personal ads (possibly NSFW).
I created my own Burner number in about 20 seconds. It defaults to your actual area code (in my case, 510), but you can choose a different one if you like. The app costs $2 and comes with a single temporary phone number and enough credits for a 20-minute phone call, which I burned through (excuse the pun) while on the phone with Greg Cohn, the co-founder and CEO of Ad Hoc Labs, the app’s parent company. Users can buy more numbers or add credit if necessary, or disconnect themselves from the temporary number by "burning" it in the app.
"There is a broader thesis that we have around identity and privacy," Cohn told me. "We definitely think that communications, and telephony specifically, have been left behind by the wave of social innovation that’s been happening. The network should be smarter, it should be more socially aware and more privacy-aware."

Gloucester, VA Beehive Paper - Anti Green? We Applaud It.

The Gloucester County, Virginia Beehive, Published by the Gloucester Department of Community Education must be anti green.  We noticed the use of orange print on the cover and the paper is produced on standard newsprint and not recycled paper.  Now the Department of Education is part of the county government and the county government keeps moving forward with all of this going green initiative announcements and promotions.  But do they actually buy it?

We have been advocating orange in place of green for some time now as a way of showing you do not buy the hype surrounding the green movement.  The fact that Gloucester County is producing a quarterly county report using standard newsprint of a high quality shows that the county really does not buy into the hype they are forced to sell the rest of us.  It works like this.  The county is required by law to promote and institute a certain amount of so called green initiatives by state law in order to maintain certain amounts of state funding.  The Commonwealth of Virginia is also in the same boat.  The Commonwealth of Virginia must institute a certain amount of green initiatives in order to maintain certain federal funding.

So why not use recycled paper to produce these quarterly reports?  Because recycled paper costs more and is of inferior quality and it takes more resourced to produce than manufacturing from raw materials.  So we actually Applaud Gloucester County Government officials for making a sound choice and just saying no to all the nonsense found within the green movement and also keeping our taxes lower in this area.  We would like to see more orange print in future editions of the Beehive.

Gloucester, VA - Vitaminwater revealed as non-healthy beverage by Coca-Cola's own lawyers (opinion)

FORT WORTH, TX - APRIL 25: A detail view of Coca-Cola products at a convenience store on April 25, 2011 in Fort Worth, Texas. Editor of NaturalNews.com (See all articles...)

(NaturalNews) Do you ever wonder things like "Who is actually gullible enough to think that Vitaminwater is healthy?" Although that question may seem demeaning or even arrogant, it turns out that the Coca-Cola company (which owns the Vitaminwater brand) is essentially asking that exact question.

How so? In response to a recent lawsuit against Coca-Cola filed by the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI), Coke's attorneys replied in court briefings that, "...no consumer could reasonably be misled into thinking vitaminwater was a healthy beverage."

Except, of course, millions of consumers were misled into believing precisely that. This illusion was helped in no small part by Coca-Cola's advertising of Vitaminwater, which blatantly positions it as a health-enhancing beverage. Even the name itself implies that the product is made solely out of vitamins and water.

But of course it isn't.

"Sugarwater" might be a better name

If Vitaminwater were accurately named, it would actually be called Sugarwater. Its first two ingredients are, not surprisingly, sugar and water (the sugar coming in the form of crystalline fructose, a processed sweetener that has been linked to health problems) (http://www.naturalnews.com/029371_fructose_health.html).

In addition to the sugar and water, Vitaminwater contains a smattering of synthetic vitamin chemicals that any informed health consumer probably wouldn't want to ingest. So in reality, Vitaminwater is really sugar water with the addition of synthetic chemicals that happen to be called "vitamins" (but which are not the natural, plant-based nutrients your body would greatly prefer).

So what we have now with Vitaminwater is a beverage that's positioned and marketed as a health-enhancing beverage, yet its own corporate lawyers dismiss any notion that the beverage is "healthy." How, then, can Coca-Cola get away with advertising Vitaminwater as a healthy beverage?

Simple: Because corporations use advertisements to lie to consumers. And virtually no one in the history of corporate advertising has mastered the art of deception better than Coca-Cola -- a company whose products have contributed to untold numbers of diabetes victims while being positioned as cool, hip drinks that make you feel energized or inspired.

Coca-Cola isn't really in the business of selling beverages, you see. It's in the business of selling the illusion of happiness in a bottle or a can. Buy their products, say the advertisements, and you too can feel happiness (or freedom, or sexiness or whatever). But what Coca-Cola delivers isn't really happiness at all: Many of Coke's products deliver the liquid sugars, artificial chemicalsweeteners and bone-dissolving acids (like phosphoric acid) that promote disease and suffering. And no reasonable person would equate degenerative disease with happiness.

Misleading name, misleading labels

Speaking of disease, how much sugar is actually in Vitaminwater? A lot more than you might think: While the label claims only 13 grams of sugar per serving, one bottle of vitamin water is actually 2.5 servings, meaning that you're chugging down 32 grams of liquid sugars with every bottle.

That's just one of the many "deceptive and unsubstantiated claims" pointed out by CSPI in its lawsuit against Coca-Cola. It is this lawsuit that resulted in Coke's lawyers making the incredible statement that no reasonable person could possibly conclude Vitaminwater was a healthy beverage.

Lawyers, by the way, can argue absolutely anything -- even if it makes no sense. And they can do it with a straight face, too. If you're looking for a professional liar, hire a lawyer. Coca-Cola seems to already have its share working at their headquarters in Atlanta.

Using its lawyers, Coca-Cola tried to argue its way out of this CSPI lawsuit, but that effort was rejected by the courts. "A federal judge has denied Coca-Cola's motion to dismiss a lawsuit over what the CSPI says are deceptive and unsubstantiated claims on the company's "vitaminwater" line of soft drinks," touts an article on the CSPI website (http://www.cspinet.org/new/201007231.html )

That same announcement goes on to quote Judge John Gleeson of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, who says "The names of the drinks, along with other statements on the label have the potential to reinforce a consumer's mistaken belief that the product is comprised of only vitamins and water."

CSPI's litigation director Steve Gardner adds, "For too long, Coca-Cola has been exploiting Americans' desire to eat and drink more healthfully by deceiving them into thinking that vitaminwater can actually prevent disease. In fact, vitaminwater is no more than non-carbonated soda, providing unnecessary added sugar and contributing to weight gain, obesity, diabetes, and other diseases. We look forward to representing all Americans whom Coke has deceived.

London 2012: Inquiry after unofficial condoms found in Olympic village

London 2012 are investigating how a bucket of unofficial condoms found its way into the athletes' village without official consent.
The Australian BMX cyclist Caroline Buchanan tweeted a photograph of the bucket, which featured a sign reading "Kangaroos condoms, for the gland downunder", and a picture of a boxing kangaroo.
She joked that bucket seemed to back up rumours that the village becomes a hot bed of activity as thousands of competitors complete their events and celebrate after years of working to get to the Olympics – tweeting: "Haha, the rumours are true. Olympic village."
Barcelona started the trend of supplying free condoms to athletes when the Spanish city held the Olympics in 1992, with the International Olympic Committee endorsing the move.
The London Olympic organisers provided 150,000 free condoms in dispensers for the 10,800 athletes at the Games, supplied by Durex which paid for the supply rights.
A Locog spokeswoman said they were trying to find out who distributed the Kangaroo condoms, with the container shown to hold condoms from Durex's rivals Ansell Ltd, an Australian company, and Pasante, a private British firm.
She said athletes and officials were allowed to bring products into the village for their personal use.

You just have to love the Olympics.  We are not watching any of the events and have zero plans to in the near future.  The above story is just stupid.

Gloucester supervisors look to clean up local waters

The Board of Supervisors unanimously approved Tuesday night moving forward with the establishment of No Discharge zones in Gloucester County's waters.
Establishing No Discharge zones in Gloucester County means boaters would be prohibited from dumping human sewage in rivers, streams and creeks. The county's Go Green Committee began working on the process last year before coming before the supervisors for approval to continue the work.
The zone areas would include the Piankatank River, Mobjack Bay and the York River and all of their tributaries. Establishing the zones on some of the waterways — including the Piankatank and upper North rivers and Adams and Poropotank creeks and Morris Bay — will require coordination with neighboring counties.
Phil Olekszyk, a member of the Go Green Committee said boaters whose vessels are equipped with marine sanitation devices can discharge without penalty in Gloucester waters. He showed a map that highlighted thousands of acres ofGloucester rivers, streams, creeks and bays that are off-limits to shellfish harvesting due to polluted waters.
Click Here for the rest of the story from the Daily Press.

We wish the board good luck with this.  How do they propose to stop people from dumping?  Will dumping police now be patrolling all the water ways?  This looks like a forced business that people now have to use if they want to own and use a boat.   More of your freedoms being taken away in the name of environmental correctness.  Just wear orange to protest the go green movement.
