What The Gloucester Mathews Gazette Journal Didn't Tell You, July 10th, 2014

New Superintendent Lays Out "Plan of Entry" is the title of the one article in the paper pictured above.  We are not going to reprint the article by any means.  If you have already read the article, then there is no sense is rehashing it.  If you have not read the article, then you can always go to the newspaper's website.

What we have a problem with here and everywhere else we have looked including the Gloucester School Board website is who the stakeholders are claimed to be and mainly, who is left out.  And what is the most disturbing is exactly who has been left out.  No reason to delay who has been left out, it's the taxpayers.  The taxpayers, those of us who pay for the entire system are not even considered stakeholders in education.  But don't take our word for it, look at the plan for yourself.  Exactly how do the folks at the local newspaper manage to miss the obvious right in front of them and not ask the questions as to why the taxpayers are not considered stakeholders?

Gloucester, VA School Board Sup Plan of Entry July 2014 from Chuck Thompson

Now one has to ask, does the local school board think that little of the taxpayers?  It would appear to be since they are wasting your tax dollars as fast as they possibly can.  We continue to see the waste each week.

Vehicle number 273, Driver, D Miller, School Board, Department, Facilities Services, Reports to Dave Miller, July 21st, 2014 time, 7:21 AM.  Location spotted, Hardees Restaurant.  This is a very clear pattern of behavior for this driver.

The above vehicle we still can not get the number on but again, the vehicle belongs to the Public School system.  July 21st, at 8:33AM.

Vehicle number 284, Public Schools, July 21st, 2014.  Time, 9:17 AM.  Went inside McDonald's to have breakfast.  This was not even a drive through quick order.  This is Dave Miller the person in charge of Facilities Services.  No wonder his employees are all over the place.  They are only doing what their boss is doing but not as bad as he does.

Maybe the Board of Supervisors should take away one hundred thousand dollars of funding per school board vehicle seen in local stores, restaurants and banks where the employees are using government vehicles for personal use, per incident.  We highly recommend the county seriously consider installing GPS tracking in all county vehicles.  This way, if a county employee is seen being someplace they do not belong, the county can actually shut down the vehicle on the employee.  This way the county also always knows where all the employees are and what they should be doing.

Now another area where this gets even worse in our view is with the new contract between the superintendent and the school board.  If you have not read that contract, maybe you should.  See section V on page 3.  The school board is allowing the new superintendent to use a government vehicle for personal use.  Never mind that this appears to be prohibited at the local level, state level and federal level as well.

Walter R. Clemons 3 Year Contract (7-1-2014-6-30-2017) Gloucester, VA from Chuck Thompson

We have filed a complaint with the IRS over the above contract as it appears to be very much in violation with IRS codes as well as Federal, State and local laws, codes and or ordinances.  Maybe we can stop this madness and send a message to the school board that we will not tolerate their complete disregard for the taxpayers and their continuous waste of our money.  We have also included the personal use of government vehicles in the complaint as this needs to end.

Gloucester, VA County Employees At Hardees During Working Hours?

Today, Monday March 3rd, 2014.  Gloucester schools closed do to winter storm.  County employees are also given the day off.  Gloucester County school maintenance employees show up at Hardees for breakfast.

Only minutes later, another couple of Gloucester County employees show up at Hardees for breakfast.  On a day off, as winter weather is getting ready to break, driving a county vehicle and using it for personal use, increasing liability risks for everyone.

You would think that after all of the posts we have shown of constant ongoing violations that all of this would stop.  Just because we have not shown any for the past 5 weeks does not mean we have not been catching these employees all over the place.  We have plenty of pictures where this just goes on and on and on.  With the budget for the county now coming up, you have to ask why we are paying so much.  Well, let's look at all the waste.

(Hand over face shaking head).  We still have more.  This is just embarrassing.   A lot of these folks are from the public schools.  They also want more money.  The same people who are now rumored to having their own kitchen at the TC Walker school where the staff there gets their lunches at a price of less than $2,50 per meal.  Is that subsidized by we the taxpayers?  And who is making this food?  And this building is locked from public entrance?  And these folks who are going to locations that have nothing to do with the business they need to conduct, using county vehicles for personal use, that have the ability to make meals at the TC Walker location, at taxpayer expense.........

Ugh!  The land of the chosen few.

Gloucester County Fiscal Management Needed?

Open Letter to the Citizens of Gloucester County Virginia;

Once again, I planned to return to the State Constitution today; however, reading several of Mr Thompson’s stories over the weekend and watching the Supervisors meeting Tuesday night I must deviate from my plan.

For all future meetings I recommend you get two minister to pray for you. Financial Stewardship appears to be totally unheard of by the Board of Supervisors. Let me count the ways.

  1. County employees use government vehicles for personal use in violation of state and local ordnance. What is being done besides buying more gas for them?
  2. You voted to give the School Board $5 million dollars for maintenance and repair after forming a committee to determine what repairs are needed and you determined a $4.5 million need. Who is responsible for the $.5 million? More trips to Hardees?
  3. County records show you have $7.5 million in CDs. This a general fund as you referred to it for all county money; a Gazette Journal story said there is $12 million from insurance for the school plus all the taxes just collected. There appears to be at least $4.5 million missing? I could be wrong the calculator on my computer may make mistakes.

I know shopping with other peoples money is fun for you otherwise you would not have found it so easy to vote to give the schools money that there is no stated requirement. In the Federal government gold plating requirements gets people sent to jail. Maybe this can be looked into while the State is investigating your activities?

I can see why you are willing to run all over people when the local paper refuses to investigate and report what is going on. As quoted from Mr. Thompson’s web site “We heard back from one person at the Gloucester Mathews Gazette Journal who informed us of the following, 'stopping by hardees is a de minimus errand'.  “ Based on this logic (this for example only I do not recommend nor condone stealing) I can get a copy of the Gazette Journal free it is of limited value and not worth getting bothered about right? How about everyone in the county doing the same every week? How long would you stay in business if we did this every week?

I have question for the Gazette Journal, I know I should go to Sunday School and Church every Sunday, I missed the week where they taught de minimus errand can you tell me what book, chapter and verse of the Bible this is from?

We need to hold the supervisors accountable for their actions and make sure the ones voted in this fall do not follow this irresponsible financial stewardship. Maybe you can get the supervisors to tell you why we are building a school in the swamp and in the same meeting talk about closing other schools.

With the Supervisors vote Tuesday we will get a new Monument to Stupidity built in the swamp.

I am not a lawyer, but have questions that are not being answered.

Failure of the Gloucester County Leadership?

Open Letter to the Citizens of Gloucester County Virginia.

Once again, I planned to return to the State Constitution today; however, reading several of Mr Thompson’s stories over the weekend I must deviate from my plan.  I read with great sorrow the events Mr. Thompson reported; based on these event am even more convinced the Board of Supervisors should vote no on the school bond until many changes are made in the county.

The question that everyone needs to ask is why the employees were using the vehicles for personal use?  Was it learned from watching their bosses and other supervisors? Why have the management and supervisors allowed it to go on? No one in the county employment has ever seen them do this before and reported it?  Why did the employee in one truck chase a vehicle, did they know they were doing something wrong? Why did the other employee go to the Hardee's at the southern end of the county for a second meal rather than the one closer to the court house?

It appears county management has taught them by example.  Has this been going on for years?  It needs to stop.  The county wants to constantly raise our taxes; until they get their house in order no new taxes.

You are now asking what does it have to do with the school board and the new school? It goes back to what these people learned in school?  I have talked to a number of students over the years living in this county and what they are learning is disturbing. They are learning that they are owed by the generation before them; they do not have to work hard to earn for themselves.  Look at the condition of the county, commonwealth, and country, it shows.  They want top salary jobs and want to be the boss when they come out of school.  Do the students come out of school see their bosses go to Hardee’s in county vehicles and repeat what they see?

I have some other questions for the School Board and Board of Supervisors.  A video on Mr. Thompson’s website from the School Board shows TC Walker being made into a new office complex for county employees.  Is it for school use or county use?  Why is additional space needed are you in the process of growing the government larger?  Then why the new space?  The School Board should have offices in each of the schools so they have firsthand knowledge of what is being taught, what the teacher deal with on a daily basis, and how the students are being treated.  You do not need an ivory tower to isolate yourselves from the students, parents, and teacher.

Until the County shows leadership and can control its employees and the School Board show it is capable of teaching ALL students to be good citizens prepared to live in Gloucester County, Virginia, and the United States as productive adults they should not be given any additional money.

Tell the Board no new Monument to Stupidity; you do not support them going forward with the bond.  I am not a lawyer, but have questions that are not being answered.

 “For the Common Good. “

Sincerely,

Alexander James Jay
