Partial Text:

Courteous Reader, I have heard that nothing gives an Author so great Pleasure, as to find his Works respectfully quoted by other learned Authors. This Pleasure I have seldom enjoyed; for tho’ I have been, if I may say it without Vanity, an eminent Author of Almanacks annually now a full Quarter of a Century, my Brother Authors in the same Way, for what Reason I know not, have ever been very sparing in their Applauses; and no other Author has taken the least Notice of me, so that did not my Writings produce me some solid Pudding, the great Deficiency of Praise would have quite discouraged me.

 I concluded at length, that the People were the best Judges of my Merit; for they buy my Works; and besides, in my Rambles, where I am not personally known, I have frequently heard one or other of my Adages repeated, with, as Poor Richard says, at the End on’t; this gave me some Satisfaction, as it showed not only that my Instructions were regarded, but discovered likewise some Respect for my Authority; and I own, that to encourage the Practice of remembering and repeating those wise Sentences, I have sometimes quoted myself with great Gravity. Judge then how much I must have been gratified by an Incident I am going to relate to you.

 I stopt my Horse lately where a great Number of People were collected at a Vendue of Merchant Goods. The Hour of Sale not being come, they were conversing on the Badness of the Times, and one of the Company call’d to a plain clean old Man, with white Locks, Pray, Father Abraham, what think you of the Times? Won’t these heavy Taxes quite ruin the Country? How shall we be ever able to pay them? What would you advise us to?— Father Abraham stood up, and reply’d, If you’d have my Advice, I’ll give it you in short, for a Word to the Wise is enough, andmany Words won’t fill a Bushel, as Poor Richard says. They join’d in desiring him to speak his Mind, and gathering round him, he proceeded as follows;

Ginseng And Other Medicinal Plants

Ginseng And Other Medicinal Plants from Chuck Thompson

161 page ebook of Ginseng and other medicinal plants.  This book is loaded with pictures that help in the identification of herbs and also the medicinal use of herbs.  It also covers the topic of cultivation and sales.  We have used herbal medicines for several decades with great success.

  It's interesting to note that some doctors consider herbal medicine to be quackery, a traditional medical practice with thousands of years of proven testimony, all the while it is the doctor who is still practicing with voodoo man made formulas with reports of great harm.  The entire pharmaceutical industry started out with selling herbal remedies and many of todays best drugs are still based on herbs.  New cures are still explored by trying to find herbal remedies and then synthesize the active compounds.

  God gave man food and herbs for his health.  Man gave his fellow man synthetic alternatives to destroy his health.  And so the circle goes on.

We are not doctors and none of this should be considered medical advice.  Only a doctor can give you medical advice.  That's the law, we do not make it, we just have to follow it.

STUFFED CAULIFLOWER - Recipe of the day

Something Different:

Pick over a fine cauliflower, and plunge it for a moment in boiling water. Look over it well again and remove any grit or insects. Put it head downwards in a pan when you have already placed a good slice of fat bacon at the bottom and sides. In the holes between the pan and the vegetable put a stuffing of minced meat, with breadcrumbs, yolks of eggs, mushrooms, seasoning of the usual kinds, in fact, a good forcemeat. Press this well in, and pour over it a thin gravy. Let it cook gently, and when the gravy on the top has disappeared put a dish on the top of the saucepan, turn it upside down and slip the cauliflower out. Serve very hot.

Federalist Papers No 6, Concerning Dangers From Dissensions Between The States

Federalist Papers No 6 Concerning Dangers From Dissensions Between the States from Chuck Thompson

Alexander Hamilton begins his turn writing the Federalist Papers starting with this paper concerning dangers from dissensions between the states.  Often called propaganda papers, one has to ask after reading this paper, if Hamilton was right?  Consider the Civil War.  Dissension between the states were well under way during that period.  So was it really propaganda like so many people would have you believe today or prophetic?

Sunrise Donuts and Sweets of Gloucester, VA - Questions of Business Professionalism

Above is a screen capture from the Sunrise Donuts and Sweets shop Facebook page that shows a very serious question of business ethics.  Highlighted on the screen capture, in yellow, is very foul language one would never expect to see on any business site unless of course you were in the porn business where it is then expected.  The area is towards the top left hand side above the Chocolate comes from cocoa tree picture graphics.  The statement says; "I Don't give a F--k if you're offended's photo".

  In fairness, from what we are able to determine, Sunrise Donuts did not write the post, they simply shared the post.  Still, the decision to do so on a business site such as Sunrise Donuts and Sweets is not showing sound business ethics or practices.  But then again what can one expect from a site that also makes the statement, "Home of the crazy chick."   We have no objections to people sharing items like this on their personal pages.  It's freedom of speech.  But to share it on a business page?  Come on folks, get with it.  That is simply poor judgement.
